Placing business cards in offices/doctor offices with your website URL

    Hi,

I was just brainstorming some inexpensive offline marketing ideas for my sites. One of the sites I have is a nanny site that connects mothers with nannies in my local area and I think a good way to promote it would be to place business cards and flyers with the site URL in places where mothers frequent. So for example a pediatricians office. How would I approach them about placing my cards and flyers there? Do places usually charge a fee for something like this? Anybody have any experience with something like this? Thanks.

All other offline marketing ideas are welcome.

There are public areas wherein you are allowed to place your postcards with your website url. I have seen it on bus stations, train stations and information desks in hospitals or hotels. Maybe you should submit a permission letter first before you proceed with your plan. Or offer an ex-deal with them like, you're going to include them on your promotions.

When approaching an area like this if I was in your shoes I would do the following:

    1. Talk to a nanny and ask her where the best clinics would be to take your kids, nephews, cousins something, find out if she knows anyone their personally if not thats okay you can still do this.

    2. When you get to the establishment ask for the public relations manager if they don't have one ask for the office manager if she is not their ask when she will be back and set an appointment to come back at a later date and see her. If she can't set an appointment ask what time she will be back and call and set the appointment to come back.

    3. When you call her back just simply say something like " hey I was in your (office) today I must say it was running really nice I was really impressed with your management skills they all where working very diligently and very professional ( if you know the persons name you spoke to say it this will help for later cases aka getting past the "gate keeper" I have another technique for that ). ( wait for his or her response and build it up ) I happened to notice while I was in there that you didn't have any nannys around I know a really good Nanny Website I have a few cards for them would it be okay if I drop them off on monday at 1 or 2 which would be better for you?

    4. If she is there simply say something remotely similar and smile friendly and professional but not sales style. You need to send the vibe that you are just there to investigate for your children, family etc. This drops his or her guard and allows you to swim around inside of their business where you please.
