    Question Photographers / Models

Does anybody know anything about how much professional photographers and models cost. I have an idea for a poster that will act as a product and an advertisment. It involves two models and another one of our products.

I have contacted a top of the line professional photographer and he said that he could do the whole thing for $4,000. That includes makeup, location, the models, plane tickets for the models, wardrobe, everything else. I have seen some of his work and it is exactly what I'm looking for. He also agreed to throw in two more shots since we will have everything there already. So basically we are getting 3 posters for the price of one. Also we can sell/ use the posters as much as we want for a year and then we would have to re-up for additional years for $300 a poster. I feel like this is a good deal but I really have know idea about this stuff.

I basically just want to know if I am getting a good deal here or if I am getting screwed and basically what is the average costs for an above average photographer and very above average models.

You could go a lot cheaper if you needed to. The best way would be to find the models yourself instead of using professional models. There are lots of women looking for the chance to make it big who will do it for little or no money. Years ago one of my businesses made a swimsuit calendar and we only had to offer the models $100 each; we found some very good models as well. We also found a senior college student who was studying photography in school and was very skilled. It may not have been 100% of the quality you might get from a professional, but if it wasn't, it was very close.

Jasaunders is right I'd grab a photo student while they have access to all the school equipment and I bet they know cute girls already and show them examples of what you want. $1000 dollars project for a college kid would be fun and more flexible on the options. A little photoshop and you got it.

are you kidding, I used to pay attractive models $50 when I was a pro photographer back in the day. They will sign release forms also, and you can use the poster as much as you want. There are a lot of great photographers out there that would do something like this for $500 if they are good.

My mom is a semi-pro photographer she gets paid to go to bars during the week and take pictures of the events, crowds etc. If you want her contact information PM me. by all means, we leave in Georgia, but she could possibly travel.

Professional photographers in the acting/modeling industry range anywhere from $200-600 per shoot(200 pictures). Do a posting on craigslist.com in your area under employment...then tv/film//video category and post to find a model. Offer $20/hr and copies of the pics. You'll get tons of emails.
The very best photographers dont charge $2000 unless they are in NY or LA. Need any help, send a PM. Hope this helps.

Photographers are relatively cheap... buying the rights to the photos is what tends to be exceptionally expensive.

If you are willing to go for a bit of trial and error then an art student and amature modes is the way to go.... look on modeling forums and there are hundreds of models willing to do shoots in exchange for a copy of the image taken.

An arts student is a good place to get someone handy with a camera and hopefully they will have access to a decent SLR and lights.

Make sure you have a release form for both the model and the photographer to sign to ensure that you own the copyright to the images for what you need them for.

Hi, I'm a professional photographer. If you want above average you need to go with a professional who has the kind of portfolio that matches the image of the product.

If you just need "a picture" you have a million options, but you also have a million competitors at that level. When a picture or a model has that extra something, we all know it grabs us and we can't stop looking at it. Those are the types of things we want to buy and keep.

I would say with plane tickets and all it sounds fine. Are you in a location where the types of models you want are not available? If not, I definitely find it worth the extra effort of shooting with the right vibe.

One more thing about Photoshop - finding a good photoshopper is very hard. It's a tool that requires a lot of nuanced skill to use - it's not magic.

    Good Luck!

Its cool someone posted this, because I am currently designing a calendar for my city, Eau Claire's Finest Bartenders.
I am charging the Bars 100$ if I have 1 or more of their girls in their, and Then we are putting their logo/name on the picture, with a phone number and address in small print.

I am looking for the talent, and I already have a photographer friend who just wants his name as the photographer, and wants the PR.

Post on Craigslist.com. Request all bartenders. Heck, if your promoting their name and image, you shouldn't have to pay the talent a dime, unless their smoking hot.

The photographer I am planning on going with is Rich Markese www.markesephotography.com . He is a photographer in Chicago. Looking at his work it is pretty much exactly what I am looking for and I haven't really seen anybody else's work to look like his but I'm not really sure if I've been looking in the right places. We have been going over a few of the models he has pictures of on his site and he has emailed me others. We are waiting to hear back from them though and I still haven't signed anything or put a deposit down.
If anybody knows of somebody at his level willing to do it all for cheaper please let me know and point me in the direction so I can take a look at his/her work.
