Unhappy Personal Finance Programs???

I was wondering what type of Finance Programs do you guys use to keep your OWN personal finances in order. Because im in the process of starting my business and I have recently realized that I must get my own finances in order before I embark on my business endeavor.

I use a budget, Excel, a filing cabinet, and some commonsense.

I use Quicken to keep track of all my accounts, and like Jmenq2, some common sense.

Organization: The key here, in addition to commonsense, is organization. Whether you use Mint.com, Excel, Quicken, Money, or a pad of paper, organization is the common factor.

I have used Quicken since 2002 and found it to be a very good program to use in my business. The secret is to be organized and to update your entries every day.

I use an excel spreadsheet with many sheets within it. Create a system to track your expenses and stick to it no matter what. Inputting your expenses on a daily basis can become cumbersome and especially at first could deter you from tracking that kind of stuff but if you set aside 1 - 2 hours per week to do the budget and 1 - 2 hours per month to recap the month and plan for the upcoming month it can be pretty easy to track everything.

Quicken is good to track your debits and credits as well as your different accounts (whether they be actual or fictitious accounts within a general account) but I do not really like the budget feature on Quicken. It's been a while though so I may try the newer version, see what it's like.

Thats why I love mint It auto tracks and updates. Only thing you have to put in manually is anything you do in cash.

I use both Mint and Moneytrackin. Mint can let me know my expenses trend and also my bank account. It lets me access all my bank account on their site without login one by one. this is the feature I love the most. Moneytrackin is a site I use to keep track my money. So far they did a good job for me.

I have no recommendation as to what software to use. I simply wanted to compliment you on your foresight. Many people think that even though they can not balance a check book that they will be able to balance a business. This is sadly not the case. By you recognizing that you need to get your personal finances in order BEFORE you venture out into the business world means you are doing your due diligence (I’ve been ‘counseled’ on now using this word before). Nice work!

Quicken. It will show you how much you waste on things like eating out for dinner, etc.

Any program is only as good as the user. You still need discipline in your organization.
