    Perfect age of entrepreneur?

    http://avc.blogs.com/a_vc/2007/05/the_mid_life_en.html

I have two meetings this week with guys in their early to mid 40s that are two of the best entrepreneurs I've ever worked with. Both are asking me the same thing - "what should I do next?"

and there is a follow up post:

And disadvantages. When I started up my company a majority of the people I was in contact with worked against me because of my age.

Agreed. This has been, perhaps, my biggest barrier.

I believe JBarista's thought... simply because these companies/big names believe "they are young meaning they don't have any knowledge or know what their getting into." Some may be right, some may be wrong (the companies that think this I mean) but the fact of the matter is, see if they are better or worse then you think... its always best to give the "young people" a shot, I mean, we are the future... the more we learn while were young, the further we'll progress when we're old.

There are obvious advantages for being younger and older. Being an entrepreneur is measured in another quantities.

That depends on what you consider young. To me 20-35 is young. Only people I know of that have that problem are teen entrepreneurs.

Being young is the best advantage ever. Young people can always grow old, Old people can never grow young. So make the most of it make a few mistakes and learn.

But teen's should take a comment like "We are not interested in you because of your age, we cannot qualify you." Take that as not a insult, but a way to boost your confidence and determination to work harder and win the rewards.

And to tell the truth, that saying was told to me, not saying by who but I applied for a sales position at a web host and that's what I was told. 4 years later and hard work and studying, I have enough knowledge that if I wanted to I could become my own web host and put up a good battle to overtake them possibly.

Maybe that's why a majority of teen entrepreneurs who run their own businesses are terrified to mention their birthday to some with the intention or fright that they'll lose their customers, etc. 2 words for those who are, DON'T BE!

Agreed. Even in my low twenties, I will never tell a business associate my age unless they specifically ask.

Being old does have it's advantages. You have much more experience which is essential in running a successful business's.

Yes being young you have "time" on your side , your "fearless" "inspired" etc but there are clear disadvantages too.
