    Owners of Clothing Labels

Good day, everyone. I was wondering what are the steps taken to put your logo on a product such as a gym bag. If you have your design from a graphic designer, what happens after between you and the manufacturer?

Hello, BMX. I am curious to know the steps undertaken to have a trademark/logo put on a product. I am guessing that you give a template of your logo to the manufacturer. Then what happens? Please help me with this since my knowledge is limited in this area.

    Hi Mr M

My shop is based through Custom T-shirts - Design, buy or sell customized TShirts : Spreadshirt. I think you will find what you want to do on there as I know you can put your logo on products through there. I also think you can buy software where you can your logo on things.

    Hope this helps

The manufacturer will "set up" the logo on the bag and get you to proof it before it gets printed. Usually there's a once off set up fee between $50-$100 depending on how big your logo is and how many colours there are. The set up fee is basically a sunk cost.

From there, you will only need to pay for what you print.

Basically, I have to give the manufacturer a template of my trademark before they set up the logo on the product, right? Should there be a contract between the manufacturer and I regarding the use of the trademark?

Depends what you are wanting to do.... Are you wanting to create a line of Gym bags to resell... or are you doing it to promote our business/self...

If you are doing it for promotional/self purposes speak to any promotions company.. they will be able to lead you in the right direction.. and you shouldn't have to worry about your trademark.

If you are wanting to create a new design sports bag to resell.. thats where it gets difficult and expensive.... you willl need to source manufacturers... and it's not easy to find good ones! There are so many stories about bad experiences from importing goods from china.. so just be careful.. start off with small quantities..

So i guess you need to explain what your intentions are...

First off, you need to make a sample of the bag. You can either do it yourself or have a manufacturer do it for you. Once you have approved the sample, the manufacturer can put any logo on it. As long as the manufacturer knows that you are the owner of the trademark, they don't really care. Google this company called twelveounce. They should be able to help you with all your needs.
