Outsourcing Your Clothing Line

Hey guys i know there are a few people here that i've talked to who have their own clothing lines that they are running. If there are others please feel free to PM me as i'm trying to learn as much as i can about what it takes to start up and would like to meet you. So i have a concept for a surf/skate/skim line that i'd like to launch but was wondering what i should do to make the tee's. I've done a lot of research on making t-shirts and what goes into it and it seems that its a craft that takes time and money to master. I think from a business standpoint it'd be a bad idea to invest a decent amount of money into the equipment needed to make these shirts before I know if they'll sell or not. So the question i have is does anyone feel it'd be a better move to outsource and pay a little more for professional quality so I can focus on marketing the product and then if it sells then move into my own production which in the end would be cheaper? I understand the expenses that go into outsourcing since afterall the company i'm outsourcing too has to also make profit. Another question is by outsourcing you don't give up any rights to your designs do you? Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
