    OurDesktops.com - would love feedback

    Our Desktops: Home

So I'm a techie and I've always enjoyed reading the "Show off your desktop" threads in forums. If you're not familiar, usually these are monthly threads where people will place screen shots of their desktop. For me, it never gets old because of the limitless possibilities.

I just launched it and there's a laundry list of things to do. Anyway, I'm happy to have found a creative outlet - whether I can monetize it or not. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I checked out your website, and as a freelance reviewer I would say your website idea is a great one, but it has potential. Perhaps you can add a forum and more tech information about desktops and related topics. You could even have a rating review section.
There is no such thing as failure, just learning experiences.

    Hi, thanks for your feedback.

I agree - a forum would be great. There are many more community elements that will be added as time goes on.

I took the first steps of a rating system. Now the users can't vote for desktops they like. Eventually I'll create a 'widget' that displays the most popular...

I'm thinking the social aspect may have to stop short of a forum. The reason is that these folks will be using all different types of operating systems, and as you probably know they're really passionate about them. Sometimes a bit too much. Anyway, I think an open forum might start a holy war. I'll test the waters with a rating/comment system and see how that goes. Thanks again for the suggestions.

A suggestion unless you are a programmer, look into Joomla PHP you can have forums and many other programs with a click of install!

    I use joomla!

Go to bestofjoomla.com for available themes. I go here every couple of days. That reminds me, I need to go there. lol

    Good luck with your site!
