    Opportunities with China

How does everyone here feel about the booming economy in China. As entrepreneurs, the possibilities for successful and extremely profitable businesses are endless. How can we, as entrepreneurs, solve business problems and apply them to Chinese markets. Who will create the Chinese facebook, or epay, ebay, etc. Obviously, many of these businesses have already been created but there are still a million ideas out there waiting to be acted upon. So, with that said, has anyone here brainstormed any good ideas with doing business in China? As a community it may be fun to think of some business ideas that could lead to successful start ups.

one of my better friends moved to China last year. He and his girlfriend both moved. The government told her she could live in a dorm for foreign teachers. the government told him he could live in an apartment building for western businessmen (actually there are many chinese families in the building too). Neither are allowed to spend the night at the other's room and the doormen will come up and ask them to leave.

When I heard that story I said, "I do not understand the chinese market."

l think that the problem with western ideology is that it expects to takeover every other system and in China's
case it has failed as their culture is worlds apart and built on a strong foundation. We now have China becoming a goldmine but western businsesses are failing to do just one thing to make a fortune: adapting to the Chinese people's prefrences.

The wise few who have such as KFC of which over 60% of their menu has been localised are now benefiting with them now being the most recognised brand in China.

yup, I agree with syia. We need to understand each culture in order we can develop a global perspective. Chinese are also good in business.

Throughout Chinese History, every nation that had conquered China was adapted into Chinese culture rather than changing Chinese culture itself.
    ie. Mongolians and Manchurians.
