Office Space

Hello Everyone,
I am thinking about sharing an office space with a fellow design studio. I was w wondering if there was anyone on the forum that shares office space, and if so do they share with someone in the same business as they? What problems do you run into, what are some positives? What fees do you run into monthly?

Thanks,
Chris Carter | www.prophetind.com

I don't really know but the two places I've worked recently (accounting firm and Investment firm) share some of their offices. I think you get more customer flow because the two play off of each other which is good as long as they are similar but not competitors.

I think a big factor to consider would be how much competition you guys are in. If you have different niche's, then is probably not so much of a problem.

Hi Chris,

Although I work out of my home now, I used to share an office with 2 others.

The good part was having reduced bills in the form of rent, utilities, phone, etc.

The negative was phone calls and walk-in traffic that was meant for someone besides me... got annoying and took up my time!

I would assume that there could be quite a bit more distractions while sharing an office.

Really the only positive, I can think of is the cost savings. (which is huge for some businesses). You can brandish a high-end office and address that otherwise would have been unaffordable.
