    Offering Services to Big Companies

    Hi,

I have a automotive/transmission shop and I wanted to offer some my services at a discount to big corporations. How would I get into the coporation and present my services? Would everything have to go through HR? I would be offereing discounts on major repairs to all their employees and special pricing for services. I would appreciate any kind of feedback.

    Thanks...Robert

Very few companies will allow you to market directly to their employees. There are ramifications to allowing one 'vendor' and not allowing another. If they let you advertise your auto repair shop but they don't let the receptionist advertise her mom's teddy bear company they could have problems. I face this all the time with fund raising ventures (non-profit). You would be better off contacting your local chamber of commerce and becoming a member. You will get access to a lot of local business that way.

    Robert,

The best repair shops go where the work is. Market to auto dealers and if you have an auto auction in your area go at them with all you got. Create a membership card that gives a 10-15% discount for repeat business. Part of this membership should be a quarterly mailer telling the customer what type of services they need and then giving them a coupon for it. If you send out a coupon for oil changes every three months you are bound to get some people to come in. The best shops keep a database of all their customers so they can send out notices for their 40K, 60K, and 100K tuneups.

The more you know about your customer the better you will be able to establish a relationship with them. Dealers will bring you volume while private individuals will bring you consistency.

I think there may be software out there you can buy for tracking your customers needs in your field. Do some searching... see what you can come up with.
