Now why didn't I think of that...

This is a very entertaining article on Digg...

The 10 dumbest, but original ideas that made people rich. Now if only I could come up with something completely silly...

Entrepreneurs by definition are the creative (wacky) people, so give them props and don't down grade their ambitious endeavors. You yourself must think out of the box in order to compete in a world of normality.

    no, I disagree.

the standard model of entrepreneurship does not define company founders as "creative".

the most important entrepreneurial role is problem formulation by way of market research.

my goal is to see a lot more entrepreneurs be successful - and the way to do it is not by sitting in the garage thinking up wacky ideas, but hitting the pavement, talking to customers and figuring out their needs.

everyday I listen to wannabes lament on how everything would be gingerly sweet if they just came up with the idea. what would make me happy is if these guys stop day dreaming.

The general stereotype of an entreprepreneur is one that creates something out of nothing, or creates a marketplace where one was not yet perceived. Many of the biggest comanies were formed out of the garage ideology. Think of apple, or microsoft (out of dorm room but the same ideology).
It seems that going with the norm of ways to do things do not always apply. With that said, yes I agree planning makes for a better (smoother) entrance into the entrepreneur arena, but do not discount the impulsive thinkers of the world, for which we would not have some of the greatest inventions ever made.
