    Not Sure About University

I'm 16, next year I finish my business course and have the opportunity of going to University. The thing is, I'm not really sure if I should go.
It's expensive, I would be in debt, I'm not aiming to get a job if I were to finish and I'm sure I can learn more about business by being practical rather than sitting in exams for the next 3 years.

But then again I could make new friends. However, right now that's the only positive side at the moment.
I was hoping to get a small job and work on my online business until it grows larger...
But some of my friends and teachers keep nagging me and tell me that I need to go to University. They say it's an "Eye Opener"

I'm just not sure which route to take, is University really needed if your an entrepreneur?

I believe it is highly needed. You may not learn how to be an entrepreneur, but you learn plenty of skills. Be a finance major, learn the structure of money and what makes it tick.... You build business connections, you can find potential investors, and network. There are loads of options and it is definitely something I would recommend.

College teaches you many things you may never encounter in an actual business environment, but it also teaches you thing that you don't realize. It teaches you communication skills and how to think outside of the box.

Another thing is that it gives you time to mature and decide what you really want to do. If you already know what you want to do, then do it! Don't let anybody tell you what to do because the end it's entierly your decision.

Let me be the first to say that I do not think it is necessary.

You don't need a degree to get into business, and I feel as if its something that many are good at without formal education. It just depends on how well you're able to self teach, and stay self-motivated.

I wasn't that appealed to going to school and graduating with a huge debt. That debt would be a pretty big burden when trying to fund my own projects. It just seems college isn't what it used to be nowadays.

However, it all depends on the individual. Do you think you need it? And then once more, do you REALLY need it? Unless your parents are paying for it, or you got a full-ride then I would consider ALL options. Going to college doesn't guarantee anything, other than the debt you will likely have afterwards.

What type of business are you interested in? Working for someone else, or working for yourself? If the later, find what you're interested in and research it by yourself. What would you like to do? Ask yourself that and move yourself forward.

Like I said, if you would rather invest the money in a business than oherwise spend it on school, you might be on to something. There's all kinds of help for starting a business and funding it too. Look around and see what you can find. You have plenty of time to decide, so make a well thought out choice.
