    Non academic graduate jobs

I'm looking on graduate job websites for a potential job when I graduate but what I've found are a lot of the listings are asking for academics for people with superb academic records and a lot of them are for big companies where you would just be an employee. Are there any websites for graduates with other qualities? For example, I don't have a great academic record but I'm a hard worker and creative thinker. I'd be interested in working for a smaller company where you can have a greater influence on how the business grows rather than just being a number in a big organisation. If this dosent exist is there a gap in the market for a non academic graduate social network?

Hey man I feel your pain I've got a B.A in business and a minor in acct and I can't find sh either. Thing about it is usually when any company is hiring for the type of job you're looking for the first thing they see about you is your application. Even though you're a hard worker you probably won't even get consideration for an interview unless you're in your 40's or 50's and have major job experience. I'm not saying this to be a dick but it's how they do it. Look into companies where there's a lot of opportunity to move up. Performance based. It's not easy out there man but companies like wal-mart will give you the opportunity to move up if you've proven yourself. Or you can look in the oil field. There's a lot of opportunity to move up in that industry with little or no education. The work and hours are rough but it pays well. I did it every summer while i was in college on a land rig in PA. Good luck dude

If that's the case, it is much better to look for jobs that require skills rather than academic records, like what you said, you are a hardworking and creative thinker, then maybe you can consider the design industry. Humans have individual differences, you can't consider yourself as a dumbhead just because others excel in the academic world and you don't, there is such thing as multiple intelligence. you only have to discover on what particular intelligence you are good at. Go for vocational courses that will enhance your skills, because in reality, companies are looking for potential employees with a certain degree of skill, this is the reason why technical jobs are emerging.

thanks for the replies guys, what i'm looking at though is wether there is a gap in the market to help people like me find the appropriate jobs. There are loads of job websites out there but is this a niche which could be exploited? Or is this concept covered by other websites?
