NO More Digital Products at eBay

So what does every body think of this new decision from eBay? Will it hurt your biz like so many of those Internet Marketing gurus that push their Private Label Rights stuff that people have been selling there? Could be very interesting!

Uh, what are you talking about? I'm selling digital products on eBay right now.

Do you have a link or an article?

Are you referring to their switch from Commission Junction to inhouse affiliate?

NO, effective March 30, 2008 eBay will be removing all digital products from their web site. You will be allowed to use Classifieds instead. It is all the talk in the Internet Marketing world today. "The JV Queen" Gina Gaudio Graves broke the story to her list this morning where I read it.

Thought I would include the info Gina sent out today and you can read more at her web site. By the way she is the former Chicago attorney turned RV traveling Joint Venture Queen that puts together the people for some of those mega launches you see. SMART lady. If you email her tell her that Hugh sent you!

URGENT NEWS For All ebay Users:
As of Monday, March 31st, eBay will no longer allow
anyone to sell digital products through an eBay auction
or through an eBay Buy It Now system. Instead, they
are going to require you to sell ALL digital products
as "Classified Ads".

Oh. That sucks.

Well, there goes some of my monthly income. Oh well, it wasn't much anyway.

Edit: Interestingly, this may cause more eBay sellers to move to eCrater and other sites.

Okay, I just figured it out. Why not sell the same product and shipped it out via CD? Wouldn't that make it a physical product? Haha, I'm a genius.

That's eBay's way of doing things now!

YES, in the Internet Marketing world we have moved to offering more of the PHYSICAL products because it allows us to get more info on the customer ie. address, phone number.

Also people LOVE to get that nice little package they were expecting in the mail!

I think ebay is trying to sell more durable goods and not some internet transaction.

Well, I won't believe it until I read it from a credible media outlet, but if this is the case, I'd say it's about bloody time!

This goes along with their ban on the sale of metaphysical items.

Frankly, the VAST majority of the digital content out there is pirated from other sources, and "resale rights" are a laughing stock.
There's no reason, other than pure laziness on the part of the seller, why this product can't be made into an extant product by putting it on disc/chip and shipping it out.
And if you have a digital product you're selling, why can't you sell it from your own website in the first place?
It's REALLY easy to setup a PayPal gateway, and if you don't need to keep track of stock (as you wouldn't with a digital product), then the payment records on the PayPal account should be enough to keep you up to speed with the number of sales you've made anyway...
