New Revolutionary Social Network Looking for Funding

Hello, my name is Moises and I'm the Co-Founder of Lottasay.

    Well here's my pitch:

Our site, Lottasay, is a new social network that revolves around the forum model so that means that you can pretty much do anything you can do in the internet. If I were to describe it I'd probably say that it's a mixture of Facebook, Craiglist, online forums, dating sites, and Twitter.

Here are just some of the features:

    - Ability to have real conversations and not ones limited to a certain number of characters

    - You can post images in your conversations or threads

    - There is BB codes you can use in your threads

    - We're going to add the ability to have videos embedded in your threads

    - You can edit posts and lock threads

    - You can upload/download images, audio, documents and compressed files

    - You can stream audio and preview pictures online before you download them

    - There's cool jQuery effects (i.e. images)

    - You can set permissions on threads and files (only certain people can see certain things)

    - You can post advertisements, personal ads and jobs

    - Our search is powerful and awesome

    - There's cool feature like 'Snapshots'

    - There's convenient filters for a variety of features (like only show friends threads or threads that your following so your threads are easier to navigate)

    - And more!

Anyway, the most important thing that I believe is going to set us apart from the rest is that we're going to communicate with our users and ask for their suggestions and feedback especially when we're about to make a big change. We're not looking to commercialize like Youtube did. We want to make our users feel like they have power over the site. We also want our website to be easy to use like Google is and I believe we've already achieved that.

I believe our website has all of the elements necessary for it to be successful. I believe that when we fix all of the errors and add all of the things that we plan to add our site will be the best social network there is and there won't be a need for people to use Facebook or those other sites. The only reason people use Facebook is because Myspace sucks and Twitter is just a fad that celebrities use. Facebook has no competition, that's why they are on top, but it really isn't that great of a site if you think about it. As for all of these new social networks are popping up all over place trying to get in on this social media revolution, they are just pretty much Facebook wannabes. They're trash in my opinion and they're trash because they don't think outside the box. I believe that our idea is the best idea there is when it comes to social networks because it revolves around forums which are the best way to have conversations online. By using this model users don't have any limits as to what they can post. We've combined all the best things about the internet into one site that's is incredibly easy to use. We also care about peoples privacy so we made it easy for them to set permissions on things that they don't want others to see.

As far as development goes, my little brother does all of the coding and I'm in charge of the ideas and the layout. Our marketing plans are simple, I'm thinking of doing some promotion on the streets and on forums just to get it going in the beginning, but I believe our users will market the site for us through word of mouth. In other words, I believe in our site so much that I'm not worried about that.

As of now our website is in the closed-beta phase and only works on Firefox browsers: www, lottasay, com

Sounds like it's going to be filled with spam. What's your prevention technique?

Maybe I'm picturing it incorrectly but it also seems pretty complex. The reason most of the social networks you have mentioned above are so popular is because they are simple.

Opposed to highlighting 'what it is' or 'what it does', tell me 'why I need it'. Right now it seems complicated and I don't see the immediate value.

    I agree.

Also, I think social media is becoming more of a "real-world" thing instead of just on the computer. Things like FourSquare does.
