In a recession, the best businesses thrive when they maintain a conservative strategy of focusing on meeting their primary customers' needs coupled with a conservative growth strategy. While this strategy won't necessary lend itself to making huge profits during periods of explosive growth (bull market rallies like the tech industry in the late '90s), these types of businesses will be more prepared to stay afloat during rough economic times such as the current recession.

Need to be thinking cheep low cost things that people really need not wish they had. Also people spend money on their pets before they would food for themselves so pet related might also be a good idea.
