New Member - Need Advice!! :)

    Hi all,

I have just stumbled across your site and am fascinated. Full of good advice and ideas for young budding entrepreneurs.

I am 26 years old and am at a cross roads. I left my 'day job' 2 years ago after not being very happy and being able to earn more money elsewhere (I am an online poker professional). 2 months later I came up with an innovative idea and went full throtle to making it work, alas problems occured with my manufacturer and we are now in a litigation battle. Since then I have had my fingers in numerous pies so to speak, real estate deals, online businesses, eBay businesses, all of which have yet to amount to anything and I am starting to panic, I feel like I constantly try and it doesnt amount to anything (except for experience and learning curves etc)!

I am able to make sustainable money from my poker which is proven over the last 4 years, but I am desperate to find a business to get my teeth into, beacuse ultimately thats where the real money is and more importantly the satisfaction.

I am in a very priveleged position in that I come from a great supportive family, I am surrounded by influential people and I am very close to other entrepreneurs who are willing to 'punt' or invest in the right business - all I need to do is find 'that' business. However it seems alot of people in this world are only out for #1 and when push comes to shove dont have the time or energy to help out their proteges. But, put it like this, if I find a niche concept or a proven business, I have people that would invest.

My problem is finding a niche, I am almost an expert in online gaming from being heavily involved in the business for almost 6 years, entirely from my own research and interest.

Not quite sure the reason I am writing all this but maybe searching for advice that can stop me worrying and panicking about my life "I want to be in this situation by the age of 30" etc. I understand I have chosen a very unconventional way of life very different to my 9-5 peers and the reason I did this is because I have no huge responsibilities yet and I wanted to risk it while I am young - but now it feels as if time is pressing and people are expecting.

    HELP!

Hi, welcome to the forum. Yes you have found a good place for young entrepreneurs like us to gather.

Sorry, please forgive me if I am not familiar with your situation. I also have the same problem like yours. Trying a lot of things to make money but not going anywhere at the end. I also frustrated and worry like you. Then I discuss with my mentor and do you know what he told me? "You are giving up too early!", he said. yes he is true and I really give up very fast. Sometime as early as I encounter the problem for the first time. I knew I must change this behavior if I want to success. Do you have the same condition like me?

But, put it like this, if I find a niche concept or a proven business, I have people that would invest.

I believe people want to invest in something that they think might make them money. You have to prove this and not just think it. To make it simple, I think you can think around your expertise, online gaming, to find your own niche. Then take action and really do something on it until you can prove that you have started a good business.

Sound like we are same and have the same problem. I always have the same worries and panics like yours. Then I need to talk with someone to get some encouragements. I usually talk to my mentor. This is why a mentor is very important. Of course, if you need someone to talk, you can always come over here and leave a message, I think there are plenty of people will help you here.

    Good Luck!

There is a lot of panic to go around these days! Nothing ever happens as fast as you want it to. The only thing to do is to keep going and work on the things you can control.

    Good luck! Hang in there!!

Thanks so much for the responses. Yup I have to take the tough line and stick with it and I know that eventually I will get there, I have this incredible belief to where I day dream about how my life will be when I get there.

As for the part you dont understand Finandom - to supplement my income I play online poker, but this is not something I would suggest a newbie does, i have been studying and playing the game to a professional level for 6 years, only the last 2-3 years have I actually been able to call myself a professional, it takes dedication, time and alot of will, not to mention you need money behind you rather like playing the stock market. I dont look at it as 'gambling' as such, I look at it as taking advantage of gamblers and weaknesses in peoples behaviour, however lots of times things go wrong and you have to brush it off - alot of likenesses to trying to be an entreprenuer in my opinion.
