Hey people.
My friend is investing in .name domains
Do you think this will prove successfully as time goes on?
why? why would it?
think of domains as penny stocks
why would you buy these damn things?
* they're illiquid
* there's no analyst coverage
* there's no historic market data which could be used to structure a risk efficient portfolio
based on these facts, as a financial planner I would have no reason to recommend a client to buy .name domains - i'd sooner recommend her to buy options/warrants/CFDs on mining stocks, or sell futures or what have you
btw, why on earth are you doing students classifieds? I mean, my gawd, dude...that's just sooo wrong

There are so many ways to get a name similar to what a person is trying to get. If there were only 1000 sites and there was a limited supply, then it is worth buying. But there is a limitless quantity available--people don't need to buy from your friend, they just need to create a unique name.

i dont see any value in .name domains. they just seem so tacky. if you going to invest in domains atleast get quality .com's
