Perhaps I should explain. My occupation until now has always been a fashion photographer. I live in South Beach - Miami. I shoot images for designers, magazines, models, commercial clients, etc.
Every now and again, we pull clothing and shoot spec editorials for magazines. My partner ( girlfriend, model, photographer, stylist... yeah, we call her God ) and I went on a quest for interesting and innovative swimsuits for such an editorial. We came up empty - even after shopping the larger studio services of the major dept stores.
While having lunch after our failed shopping mission, we decided that with our experience in the industry, we could design an interesting collection. We enrolled in private classes on design and construction, and began to create our mental images.
After we completed a few prototypes ( which I'll admit are really powerful ) - I sent some of the polaroids to a couple editors and friends in the industry. The reception was amazing. My friends sent the images to their friends and now we've got stores ( even 2 in NYC ) requesting our suits... and we don't even have our " Look Book " done yet.
I've really only known the fashion business from the perspective of a photographer - and now I've got opportunities to make something big with these suits. Other elements have fallen into place and I've been offered lots of media attention and a book deal ( another thread )... and I don't want to screw this up.
I'm begging for good suggestions from qualified people.
