    New Chick on the Block

Hay thar all you super rich (or soon to be) people!

I'm an aspiring young lady entrepreneur I have lots of ideas, and leads and have read books, and blogs, and websites... but i have one idea that i would like some opinions on ...

I would like to start a website selling organic/natural products for pets, home, beauty and specialty foods. The site will be extremely simply designed (i'm planning on using a hosting site to create it.) I will purchase wholesale from other websites (just applied for my tax id!!) and possibly import some products.

I'm currently reading the book Multiple Streams of Internet Income by Robert G. Allen. So i plan on using his techniques I'm kind of stuck on a name.. what do you think about VanillaSugar.com?

According to the book Small is the New Big, business names that are not real words, but sound like English words and are easy to sound out and spell are the new thing. i.e. Ikea and Starbucks. Apparently these names create a lasting memory in most peoples minds.

Or i could go with something like naturalliving.com? Any thoughts??

    Welcome to the forums

I like to go with invented words, that are based around English words.

Take for example my webhosting company, Hostocol. I simply took the computer word, Protocol, and then took what my company is based around (Web Hosting)

I put them together, and it came out with Hostocol. It has worked out pretty successfully so far, but I guess it all depends on if you can come up with a name like that for the market that you are selling in.

Are you sure you're on the same forums?

Anyways, welcome to the forums! ... good to see some females around here

Domain names aren't terribly important if you plan on just making one up and creating a brand around it, so long as it's easy to pronounce and spell people will catch on if you offer a great product/service.

A lot of people do say though that if you use real words such as "buynatural.com" or something then you're more likely to get a higher search engine ranking when people search for "buy natural".

Now before you go any furthur it would be an idea to get some feedback from potential customers as to whether they would buy from you, what sort of features/services they'd like etc. Do up some surveys and find a group in your target market and have them fill out the surveys.

That way you will have a better understanding of whether or not the business will work and immediately you have data you can use to create a better product/service/experience, plus you have a list of possible customers with their contact details.

Do the market research before moving any furthur... it will make a big difference.

    cheers

Hey [to be super rich girl!] welcome to YE.com. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I think you right when the name is more like a very common english word. So even while conversation people might use your word and instantly your product might buzz in.

I was thinking of Organo.com! But again it all depends on the availability of the domain name.

LoL, I'll second that. Well I just did some domain availability checking on some of my own ideas for you. The only one that was wide open was Vanillature.com
