I keep thinking of the price of gas vs. your profit margins on the rentals. Even in a hybrid your gas costs are going to make it nearly impossible to make a profit. I can’t see you generating enough rentals to cover travel expenses (gas, insurance, maintenance), let alone leave any money left over to advertising and staff. What is your break even point per market?

Hello, Thank You for your feedback. We do realize that the cost of gas and insurance is going to be very high, but we feel that the return due to conveneince will be much higher. Right now we have about 200 members on our unlimited plan in our local store, that's 200 people that pay us anywhere form 9.99 up to 29.99 every month, which doesn't include walk in rentals. We only have to rent each new release about four times to get our return back, and new releases are usually rented about fifteen times each in the first month alone. There is a profit margin there trust us, if there wasn't we wouldn't be trying to invest in new ideas. We know that this is going to be a challenge to us, but that's business. We feel that people are going to want to watch their movies when they rent them, not three days later, and certainly not on a computer screen. Since food delivery is so popular, why wouldn't entertainment delivery be?

Thank You

Why do you feel this way? Have you done market research? I would recommend it. Try having customers fill out a short survey in the store for $1 off their rental or something. This will provide you valuable info and will spread the word of your services. However, your survey needs to be carefully created. You can inquire more into how to create a useful survey if you are interested.

Okay-if you think that gas and insurance overhead is solved. It wouldn't hurt to add more income into the business rather than relying on new releases income.

How about adding a suggestive retailing concept. Do a combo of 1 movie, 2 milk duds, popcorn, 2 liter soda blah blah.....Mark ups on concessions might help you cover more of the obvious costs.

Add this into your online software as additional source of income for the company.

Just an idea!

Hello Again, Thanks for the ideas they are great. We actully have surveyed our unlimited members, and they love the idea. For now we are only offering the delivery service to them because they are our core customers, and we want to get their feedback regarding our idea before integrating it into our business. So far the feedback from them has been very good, and many of them are excited that they are the first to have these rental options.

Combo packs are a fantastic idea!!--Thanks Again LT--
Your idea is exactly what we are looking for, we are pleased to see someone willing to help others in the business world, and trust us we are definately going to discuss the two fantastic ideas that LT has provided us with!

Please feel free to give us your feedback no matter what it may be, we learn from our mistakes and feel that any criticizm we may receive is an oppurtunity to expand on an idea, and PLEASE present us with any new ideas you may have--- they have been fantastic!!!

Thanks Again!!!

All the best,

Ben,

You are welcome. I second Maxim's comment. I just now went to visit your website. Your font in the website needs work. Stick with traditional arial or courier, or tahoma. They are always easy to read.

Where in your site can new members sign up? Log in page? I didn't see it very easily. I'm not exactly good at techie lingo but the link of "send email"-- don't do outlook, do it where people can actually fill out a simple template and send an email from the actual site. (Help me techies what's that thing called?) Collecting email addys will help you promote new things.

Are you still in a testing phase or have you already launched?

Its not a bad idea, but its going to be very Hard to compete with the media giants that already exist. On a local scale, it seems to have a decent selection of movies, BUT your overhead will totally outweigh the profits by far. I just cant see ordering from there unless a blockbuster is to far away to drive youself to. It may work for people that dont have a means of transportation. Thats just my honest opinion. Unless you can fund the capital on the front end, I dont see it working

What is the population of your area, and density? Idea seems good, but would be interesting to know what the population averages are.

Hello, Our website is in process of being redesigned as we speek, and we are waiting until it is ready before we go crazy trying to promote. As far as population is concerned we are right smack in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the country. We are currently in Broward county, FL which includes MIAMI, FT. LAUDERDALE, HOLLYWOOD, PEMBROKE PINES, HALLENDALE, MIRAMAR, and DANIA. This area is booming right now, and believe us, the convenience of any delivery around here is fantastic. Plus we have actually done some survey's regarding the rental giants, and many people are not happy with their services, mainly because it takes too much time to receive their rentals, and people are too busy to waist a half hour at the movie store--they simply have too much going on. This new service will be offered locally in Broward county until we can expand to other cities. We are currently doing research in Orlando, and we are excited because it is yet another booming area where people want convenience brought right to them, instead of being out amongst all of the tourists. We have a team of representatives that are staying there gathering information for us to use in the near future. We are trying to expand to untargeted groups of people that may utilize a delivery service such as Elderly, Babysitters, College Students, and Daycare.

Our Website Will Be Fully Functional Very Soon!!! Thanks LT

Hello,

We haven't posted in a few weeks because our company has been trying to get our new delivery service up and running. We have still been having some trouble re-designing our website but we have made our current site fully finctional for our members. The new service has been great, and our members are responding very well. We have moved out of our rental store to try to expand our business, and are moving into a mall kiosk to increase new member sales, as well as moving our offices into a corporate office building. The delivery service has been running smooth so far, and we have almost a thousand new 1HourMovies.com views in the past three days, not much for a corporation but a lot more than we are used to. We have actually delivered about sixty movies already to our core members in the last week and a half. Hopefully things will keep growing, but for now we are very satisfied with the feedback we have received from our members who have had deliveries to thier home. The good thing is that we are already starting to establish a daily route, since most of our members live within five miles of our previous store. It takes time to build and grow and we are very pleased to see our ideas become reality. Soon our members will be able to pick their movies for the week ahead of time and we will deliver them right to their doorstep. We have also added different types of candy to purchase, as well as popcorn and beverages to be delivered as well.

We are also in the process of using our member feedback to come up with new marketing ideas, and are on the verge of utilizing press releases in our local area.

Please submit any new ideas you may have for us, we are eagerly waiting to hear them!! Thanks

Hello, we have recently been very busy getting ready for our new kiosk to open in one of our local malls. We are going to use this kiosk to sell memberships as well as retail movie themed items, and to help people undertand our services and our strive to utilize the latest technology to help enhance their home entertainment. The kiosk is going to be set up like a miniature movie theatre, with two 32 inch flat screens on oppsoite sides and purple curtains draped from the top. The end cap will have a 26 inch dell flat screen for logging onto our website and showing people how to rent movies to be delivered to them. The flat-screen tv's will be showing current movie trailers mixed with our commercial and other company images all tied together as a slide show. We have spent a great deal of money in the last few weeks gearing up for the new kiosk opening so we decided to do the same with the website. GEEKS ON STEROIDS is currently redesigning our website and it will be a full 3-D flash site with all the trimmings, and it should be for the price we are paying. We will be back to share our progress.

Thank You for reading!
