Need your opinion: Would you use this service?

Imagine that there is a service which allows you to subscribe to new posts in your favorite forums (like this one) and blogs. You will be receiving it as a paper several times a month by regular mail. So you will be able to read it as a magazine on the train on your way to work or in a bathroom

    Would you use this?

If yes what blogs or forums would you subscribe to? e.g. Digital Point Forums, TechCrunch, TMZ?

    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,

Personally, I believe nobody would pay to get information they could get for free (and in this case, getting it faster+free!)

I agree with Nes, with iphones, Androids, and other smart phones, you can simply view your favorite blogs in real time while your on the train, in a bathroom, etc.

would not pay for it but would consider some sort of ad supported model. Sounds like something good for an ipad.

Yeah I would kinda agree with the other members here that it 1) sounds like an interesting/innovative idea 2) no one would pay to get something they can get for free. I love the fact that you are thinking in a different way and that sort of mentality will definitely get you far. Just keep in mind the feasibility of an idea and whether it makes sense economically or not as a consumer. Good luck and keep it up. We are all here to help each other!

Isn't this what RSS does??? I like the idea of having all your fav post, forums, etc all in one place - however a electronic app or something I think woule be better as we are moving away from paper, just look at all teh major news pubvlications around the world, they are all experiencing declines in circulation.

Good idea, old technology. - just my 2 cents

I'll play devil's advocate here and say its a great idea.

    Reason Why

While I was in the bookstore today, I was thinking about how horrific it would be if all bookstores were shut down because of this turn from paper to electronic resources. I'll admit just as much as the next guy, I love the internet and all the benefits that come with it. BUT, there are some things that just aren't the same in an electronic format.

I am an avid book reader myself, but I just can't get into reading an electronic book. While its the same information as the printed version, it doesnt provide the same experience for me.

That's why I like this idea so much. I'm not sure about the paying part of it, but the concept of having my favorite forum/blog resources all in a consolidated paper is very much appealing.

While the feasibility of such a paper is questionable, the idea itself is definitely a winner for me!

If to follow this logic, all newspapers and magazines and BOOKS are waist of paper too… The next step is to get rid off TV, theater……. why do we need all this if we can use iPhone LOL?

Why are you so concerned about paper? I don’t force you to use it.

How many useless advertising are you receiving by mail? A lot, right? But here you will be receiving your favorite blog or forum in print. This is your choice but not spam that you receive to make you buy something.

    1. Wrong. Most Newspapers, magazines and books (with the exception of ebooks) cannot be bought in full versions online. Why? Simply because if they made all their written content available online, people would not buy the paper versions anymore.

    2. Concern about paper: not only is it a concern to the user, but it should mostly be a concern to the supplier (you), seeing that paper is expensive in terms of making money on your business. For your business to work, your product must be cheap, and with the cost of paper/advertisement, you're going to have a hard time making profits.

    3. Question to you: Are you going to distribute content weekly? monthly? Wouldn't it be difficult for you to keep up with new content constantly being posted? By the time you have sent out your bundle of blog posts, 10 new posts would have been made.

Lastly, the reason why the internet is so great in terms of news, blogs, forums etc. is that people are able to respond to what they are reading; people are able to leave a comment. I would be rather frustrated if I was sitting there, reading your paper formated blog posts, and being forced to go online, go to the blog I've just read in paper format, go through what I've just read, and then post a comment. lol, to me that would be rather ridicolous.

Looking forward to hear what you have to say to this!
