    Need More Details on Dropshipping

    Hi All,

While browsing through different threads on this forum, I came accross a new term 'Dropshipping' (I know its an old term, just new for me). I googled it for info, but would appreciate if someone could clear a few questions/confusions,

    1) Do these dropshipping websites give a detail of products I could sell? Or are these just responsible for delivering my goods to the customer as DHL for example, with advancements.
    2) How do I use dropshipping websites? is it like an affiliate program where I sell their products using my marketing tools and get a commission? or is it the otherway round where I pay them commission for the logistic services they provide?
    3) As far as I read, Dropshipping is just like trading, where we do not have warehouse facility, and ship from warehouse of wholeseller/manufacturer to customer directly. My question is, how do dropshipping websites help me in terms of convenience compared to when the supplier ships the products to customer's address directly?

    Thanks

Hope you don't expect to make money doing this? Drop shipping was the "get rich quick" business of the early 2000's - today, the competition and pricing is not conducive to making large amounts of money; unless you're really lucky.

Largely today, drop shipping only benefits the drop shipper and not really a means of wholesaling bulk; overstocked items.

thanks worktraveldream, actually I've recently started to incline towards an online store. Basically I have recently started my own apparel manufacturing unit, and I have been finding difficulties in keeping the unit in running condition, to avoid huge overheads. Getting hold of good production orders is very tough for newcomers these days, so I thought it would be better to start an online store of apparels where I could sell my own designs in t shirts mainly. Like they say, behind every striking idea, therez usually a 'BUT' so in my case, I have no experience of online sales/store/shipping to various places from Pakistan etc, I'm just trying to figure it out these days.
Any guidance will be very much appreciated.

thanks for the reply profitdrivers, yes I have my own printing facility, actually I have got all resources for production of apparels/t shirts because this is what I wanted to do. But now when I think about starting an online store, I get doubtful if it would become too much for me to handle, since my production house is my primary business at the moment, with online business, wouldnt I be getting into too much variation? as in its a full time job/business to run an online store, manage the orders/marketing/sales etc. I was hoping to make partnership/contract with someone already doing/starting his online store business, I'm not looking for high margins, I'm more interested in injecting orders to my production facility.
Views and feedbacks are most welcome.

Drop Shipping can really help you start an online retail business, and make good money, this is easy with the right updating software and the right suppliers.
