    need invention designers/manufacturers

I doubt anyone will know but it's worth a try:

I'm trying to find those companies that design/manufacture prototypes for inventions and such. (Google searches are very misleading...)

I just need an estimate on how much it would cost to produce a product I would like to create.

    thank you.

Depends on what type of proto type u need made. Do you need a prototype that wills how what your product will look like or do you need a funtioning one out of similar material to what it will be mass produced out of and will it be full scale. If you let me no of a similar product or the materials you plan on using I can give you a rough estimate.

Just to put things in perspective to have something like a plastic bucket manufactured, to create the tooling and molds ect will cost approx 30-40 grand.

i don't need a functioning one until i have estimates and i do more research. just what it would look like and how much it would cost to produce.

it's a sports watch. it doesn't have to be fashionable. must be able to connect to a website on a computer. cheap and comfortable rubber strap: more focus on it's function then it's actual looks.

and that bucket fact is ridiculous hahaha.

You need to get in touch with a larger company for the creation of your product since it sounds like it is web-enabled and what not. I would try to create a very intense drawing, perhaps model, and try to get it patented. If you can't take the idea to larger companies and try and sell them your model to create. This alleviates all of your R&D cost. If it is that good of an idea, and it has not been done, and they think its profitable...they may make it and pay you a royalty.

i don't want a royalty. maybe i can get it patented and try getting a larger company to manufacture it for a price.

or would they just wait for the patent to run out so they can design and sell it themselves? i've heard there's a lot of ways around a patent anyways...

Don't worry about a patent until you at least no what they can do and how they can protect your product.

I know what a patent is nigami...i was concerned because people get past patents by changing small things in the design. that doesn't really help answer my inquiry in my previous post.

@dmarks or anybody: would a larger company produce my product for a price? (i understand that having them design and sell it - while i get a small royalty - would alleviate my design and advertisement costs...but i'd rather get most of the profits).

Mate im trying to help you here. From what I read of your post it didn't sound like you had a great idea of what a patent can provide you.

There are plenty of companies out there that will take a simple sketch to a product on the shelves pf shops. Google new product development and look for turn key solutions.

The only way for you to get most of the profit is to take most of the risk and the only way to do that is to fund the development cost yourself.

    Good luck with it.

thanks nigami i found a few companies. they say developing a prototype could cost somewhere around $250,000 depending on how complex it is.
