Just have to figure out what it is that I want to do.. I've been thinking, more than money and more than my passions, the one and only thing I want out of my life besides lots and lots and lots of money is just being my own boss, being in charge of my own life, the idea of that just excites me! I just have to think of a way to make it happen, I hope an idea comes to me as it has come to all of you, I just hope it comes to me while I'm still young!
Also if anyone else feels like sharing how they got into the business world it would be awesome!
Thank you all again!
I'll take my chances at the risk of sounding patronising... You need to grow up a little. Reading what I have of your comments, you want to be your own boss, but you have:
1. No solid idea of what type of business;
2. No want to build your experience working for someone; and
3. A want to make "lots and lots of money" but see point 1.
You want to know how a lot of us made it into the business world... We worked out arses off (maybe not all, but the few that don't got lucky). I worked in an office for 5 years; day in day out, working harder than everyone else to climb the ladders FAST! I become one of the senior people in 2 years, and by the end of the 4rd year I had negotiated my weeks down to 30hrs with no change in pay. By the 5th year I was working from home whenever I wanted, and one day I handed in my resignation, packed my bags and left Australia. I am now a contractor for them (15-30hrs a week); travelling the world and doing other jobs as well.
20yrs old pegs you around 1991 birthdate - the entitlement generation. I'm not much older but we are worlds apart. I worked hard and succeeded.
The other thing that I find funny is you think being your own boss will mean you're in control of your life. Sometimes, running a business is like being a slave to it (not for mine, but many I encounter on a near daily basis)... My auntie runs a business and she's a stressed mess a lot of the time; my parents once owned businesses and likewise, they were constantly stressed.
I may die poor, or I may die rich - but I'm not going to live a life chasing a fantasy. Go get a job, or look for your own work on oDesk (if you really want to be your own boss); and while you're earning money (as little as it may be) start looking at how business works, and reading business books, marketing books, and sales books.
Sorry if this sounded personally attacking; but it was intended to be blunt.
