Need idea for a new start-up company

    I've started a casket importing co..then what

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've started an casket importing company and hoping to service the funeral industry. My main goal is to sell to fuenral or mortuary homes. I have been doing this for the past year and faced many challenges.

This industry is somewhat a monopolized market and it's really hard to tap into this. Before I've entered into this industry, I have made some research and even developed our patented products.

So, is there anyone that are close to this industry and maybe give us a point or two. I have posted advertisement on the indsutry related magazine and very specific trade show for funeral industry. However, we did not have much progress in these marketing method. On the otherhand, we got much of our sales from cold callings.

    Help...

I doubt you'll find anyone on here involved in this industry, after all you said its a monopoly.

Have you gone to any tradeshows? Might be a bit morbid, but I am sure there should be at least one.

I agree, you need to actually attend the tradeshows. Funeral homes are a very tight-knit group and you need to network with them face to face. Have you actually been to the smaller funeral homes and met with the owners? They are more receptive to sales pitches than the owners who have multiples. The owners in my city have large associations and if you want to do business with one, you have to go their meetings! So look for local associations and call them too.
