Need help with my ecommerce business

I have a business already already and want to take it online. I am building an ecommerce website via yahoo small business. I have 550 products with pictures descriptions and prices.

The problem is that I need a custom shopping cart. Since I am a distributor of these products, they company wants me to stock all of the products. TO ensure this, the company requires that my min. purchase from them is $75.00. Assuming that I am making a 20%+ margin on my products, that means that my shopping cart minimum purchase must be $100. If the order is not 100, then I need to charge an additional $15 onto shipping.

I realize that yahoo small business is not the answer because they do not have this feature in their shopping cart. For now, I am setting up my products and stuff via yahoo small business so that I can continue to organize via excel spreadsheet and gather ideas.

Does anyone know an out of the box solution to my problem or should I just have a developer build a custom shopping cart?

Any Ideas?

Thank you,
Evan

if you stock items then you don't need minimum, right?
Custom shopping cart will be the best idea, but you will need your own website and and you have to do lots of marketing too.

correct, if I stocked, i do not need min order. I do not want to stock items for this. I figured out that on yahoo small business shopping cart you can set the min order to whatever you want... This helps me, but if someone does not hit the min order, i would like to allow them to purchase still but be charged an additional 15 dollars

I would definitely try to find an out of the box solution that will work for you. I'm a web developer, and even built a shopping cart for our product recently, I suspect it will cost you more that you want for a shopping cart, and a one off is not going to have all the additional functions you want, plus you'll have to go through the painfull shakeout time to stabilize the code.

If you want a custom shopping cart i would start out with a pre-existing cart that has open source code in which you can build off of versus starting from scratch to build it. There is a good open source shopping cart at Readymade Online Shopping Cart Ready To Go! - JBCity.com which might make a good fit for your ecommerce store.

Hmm I know that Yahoo business has some web developers that develop solely for Yahoo Business such as Solid Cactus. You should check into it!
