    need help with contracts!!

    Hello YE,

I am sending somebody some of my products for free (from US to Canada) and in return, the person I sent them to will make DVDs, books, website, etc. with my product featured in it.

My question is - where do I find the contracts that will allow me to:

    1) be able to reproduce the DVDs, books, etc. and sell them on my own without charges

    2) have something saying that if the DVDs, books, website, etc. is not completed in X amount of time, I will get my product back.

Anybody know where I can find a draft for these types of contracts, or what they are called?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you need somewhat of a custom contract done. You can't just edit templates and hope they'll stick. The other problem is the difference in international laws between how US and Canada treats specific wording of contracts. As sucky as it sounds, you might need to consult an attorney that has familiarity with this and have something written up that way.

That said, cross borders or international contracts are extremely difficult to enforce and can be a very costly, even fruitful of a thing to enforce should the person you're sending the products to decide to keep the products, not follow through, or anything else that goes wrong. It's very difficult and something you should look into prior to even spending money on contracts.

This contract doesn't really have to stick I guess. I'm not sending enough $ worth of product over there to really pursue any kind of legal action if they decided to not hold their end of the bargain.

I really just need something that looks/sounds legit so they will think twice about breaking the deal. And who knows, maybe if the potential of this goes far enough, I could get a really good lawyer to find out how to make it stick.

Just some thoughts. Any advice would be awesome

Yikes! That's not how it works, benny. If you have any interest in keeping your wallet closed in the long run, it's better to spend less money on a lawyer now to draft a proper agreement than spend exponentially more on a lawyer later to try to wrangle protection out of poorly-written downloaded contract. I think you'd be surprised at how economical it is if you deal with the right person.

Furthermore, you would certainly need an attorney for this kind of contract. This kind of agreement would be fairly intricate, and isn't available publicly, even to us super-elite legal insiders
