    Need advice on getting started

    Hi

For the last 3 or 4 years It has been my dream to be a successful entrepreneur and whilst im always coming up with good creative ideas I cant seem to find the right one to help me get started as a lot of them are quite high tech and couldnt be started on a small budget. Im really frustrated that I still havent hit the right idea yet so my question is what do I do? Do I keep being patient and living my life until I get the right idea or shall I just start any business, although I have thought the problem with this is that ill end up with a business im not passionate about. Please help!

    Thanks

Do you have any hobbies or interersts that is always a good starting point you could maybe start a free blog about something on Blogger.com its totally free and you can add some form of revenue earning adverts. Its only a suggestion but you would get the feel on how to get traffic to your blog and then maybe move on to another bigger venture.

You need to be both patient and pro-active.

Be proactive in searching for advice, mentors, and your ability to learn the true skills of entrepreneurship.

Be patient in realizing that it takes time to develop the relationships it takes to build a very successful unique business.

A good place to start is to pick an industry that excites you. Examine the problems the markets within those industries are having, and try to come up with an innovative solution.

Great entrepreneurs know how to make money. Amazing entrepreneurs know how to solve pains.

thanks for the advice, im also wondering what would be the best thing for me to do this summer. I have 4 months off from university and will probably end up with a job but really want to have a business, so is there any point just doing any business if i cant come up with one i really love in the next couple of months?

Whatever income you generate during the summer can be put towards starting a business you actually care about.

You definitely don't want to put your income into a venture that you aren't sure about or aren't passionate about.

It might be that you may want to be involved in a business at a partner/founder level rather than leading one (ex CEO). In that case, check your city for local entrepreneur meetups. See if there is an Angel convention around and look at startups pitch their ideas. You might find a kindred spirit.

I am kind of in the same boat but not really.

I have some great ideas ... and a couple that are outstanding. They solve a major pain, have a huge target market and there is zero competition.

My problem is, I am not scared to get into it, but I dont want to put a couple years into a project and then realize it was a mistake and I should have done idea #2.

How do I figure out and be confident in my choice as being the best option? It is also something I am not intimate with, but I know there is a huge void and the demand is huge.

So, to simplify, If someone has 3 great ideas they think will work... how does one narrow down to make a final decision without looking back?

    Cheers

Read about a guy named "bud brutsman" He came from very little, but now he's a film producer. Heavy Hitter magazine did an interview with him, but its an older issue.

In fact id recommend you read that mag, its very entrertaining, and inspirational .

Being patient and taking things slowly and doing them right is key.

These are all really good suggestions! If you are serious about getting your entrepreneurial career started, I would do three things immediately:

    1. Take the time to figure out what you are passionate about. Sit down and critically think about what you're good at, what other people ask for your help/guidance with, what you're interested in and what gets you fired up in general.

    2. Find a mentor. Take your time to research your industry and make a least of people that have what it is that you want and go after them. Effectively convey that you are hungry, that you want more and that you will do anything for them in order to study and learn from their experience.

    3. TAKE ACTION. This is the most important factor of all. Action=Success. The more action you take, the more likely that you are going to accomplish your goals. Take action and don't ever give up!

Hope this is useful, let me know if there is anything that I can do for you!

I always feel entrepreneurship is always about passion and not about the potential income. If I were you, I would keep working and saving to start my own business. Also never ever give up on your dream and lookout for ideas that either can let you start from home while you have another paying job or something you can start with minimum investment. Keep your main goal in mind and start saving or taking up jobs which will help you acquire enough money to start the business you are really passionaite about.
