Need advice from everyone! Let me know what you think :)

    Hi,

Before I begin working on a site design and creation, I was wondering if the domain

    CellyToGo.com

    of

    GoCelly.com

was catchy enough to remember. .

Here is a brief summary of the services:

CellyToGo will provide individuals that are hungry and in a hurry the ability to order food from restaurants within the CellyToGo.com network. When the customer sends SMS Text message to a unique 5 digit number, with their CellyToGo code, an order will be placed at the restaurant, their credit card will be charged for the order, the order will be prepared by the restaurant, and the customer can go pick up the order without having to wait in line – the order was already paid for.

The reason I ask for comments, is because the cost to start this is very high, and it is a very high risk idea to pursue.

So please everyone give a comment on this and let me know if the domain will work for us, or should we scrap the name and go back to the drawing board?

    Thanks,
    Mike

They would have already registered on the website to get their 5 digit code, so they would put their credit card in then i would guess.

maybe I am missing something, but why wouldn't people just call the restaurants directly and order?

a lot of restaurants allow you to do this already.

    I think so, too.

How would that idea make it easier?

    Think outside the box...

Time to think outside the box guys...

Think about how long you have to wait on hold when you call a pizza hut when their busy.

average wait time on hold in the restaurant industry is 10 minutes.

Lets say you have a routine in new york to get on the subway/metro, and you usually get some coffee and some donuts at the duncan donuts 3 stops down.

The line is really long and it's a hit or miss for you to get your donuts and coffee because you have a 5 minute window till the train leaves it's stop.

You text your code and your order is placed... It's ready when your there...

You pick up your order and go - no waiting in line - no waiting to pay...

No giving your credit card to a random stranger over the phone...

not to mention, it's fast and easy - 98% of cell phones have the ability to text now.

It actually saves a person time, saves a restaurant time, and their is no risk to either.

A simular service is very successful in new york at this time - gomobo.com

It's a very difficult technology/system to integrate because it has to work with all the telecom companies - and the approval process is difficult - you miss one telecom company and the business suffers....

Many people have tried to start one and only gomobo succeeded because of the agreements with telecom companies and use of their networks with the short code... Not to mention the start up costs are very high...

Dominoes just started this same service.........You can text in your orders or do it right online.. I guess if you had connections with local resturants this may work..As for the big chains like pizza hut or what ever, they will probably not need your service.

And since dominoes has this silmliar service, I bet pizza hut is already working on the same thing, only different, if you get my drift.....

So maybe the focus will be on restaurants, not on Pizza shops. How to know which restaurants will be the initial users of the system?

I have a couple of idea's for this. So random people dont walk in and pick up you're order, you get a unique code sent to you almost instantly (this works with most tel companies) and you give it to the guys and pick up the order. The database for the code will be refreshed everyday and the code will be randomely generated.

If you're having credit problems, it's much easier to open up a premium rate texting service which charges the user and is transferred to your credit system. I've seen a couple of companies offering these online.

I think its a very good idea. Costs would be high to start, but once you have the restaurants convinced that they will benefit from the service, it will be easy, because they will start promoting it as well. Having worked in a restaurant for a long while, talking on the phone is time consuming, and annoying. Getting a printout of what the order is, is much easier....

Im really not feeling the name though. To be honest it seems kind of cheesy. I mean no offence to that though, just not a name that sticks with me. I cant come up with any better though....

    Good luck!

I think its good. Proceed with caution.

The innovation is a great idea. In fact, Japan already has this in the works. I have a contact in Japan who told me that they are already able to pay for a Coke through their cellphone via vending machine.

Hence, reinforcing the decline of PC sales in Japan because of the mobile services branching out to services like this. My only suggestion is the US is not very advance in accepting innovations such as this.

Do a lot of market research. It may or may not be an acceptable technology here.

    Hi there,
Personally, I think this is a great idea and would help smaller restaurants, etc at the same time.

I think you wouldn't want to add the likes of McDonalds, Pizza Hut, etc into the scheme of things anyway to start with. Get big enough that they ask YOU to be involved. I know this is possible.

To be honest, the domain name didn't catch me at all...

It needs to be easy for people to understand it's for food.
You know how there's "Meals on Wheels" ??

You need something similar to that to show it's to get food easily... doesn't HAVE to show it's via SMS.

I know it's not easy with domain names these days... but if you believe it can be a great success then spending the time, and possibly money to get the right domain will be worth it.

    That's my 2 cents worth

    Cheers,
    Amie

I think its a great idea! The problems i think you will run into are restuarnts not being organized enough to get these orders done on time...customers ordering things off the menus (because thier not gonna be carrying menus all over the place)

I would reallly like a service that i can get food delivered to my house from local resturants like mcdonalds and subway for those really busy days or really lazy days and i wouldnt mind paying an additonal 5$ for delivery + tip
