Hello guys,

I'm in a bit of a predicament here. I currently run a small company as a partnership. We have been at it for only two years and are showing some growth, but I fear we'll never get there. Our company is too small and we don't have the human resources to speed things up. The two of us is all we have, aside from occasional outsourcing. We can't afford to hire employees to help speed up the development process and by not having these employees it prevents us from expanding.

That being said, our competition (and the big fish in the industry) is hiring. The position they are looking for is exactly what I do, web development. I know it's not exactly in the entrepreneurial spirit to settle for a job, but I'm not sure what other choices I have.

Also, what are the chances that this competitor would be interested in buying us out? I know it is difficult to judge since you know nothing about my industry or my company but let me just say this: At the moment, our business isn't very profitable, however we are direct competitors with this other company and are taking some business from them. We have also developed tools which they can use. I've read that buyouts are usually concerned about the bottom line, but what about competition, even if we aren't doing well in profit we have a pretty decent sized client base.

Anyone out there with some business advice for this web developer?
