    Just some thoughts.

So what are you looking for then?

Are you looking for a name that is also your domain name? Are you concerned with customers knowing what you do from your name? From your domain name?

Without such info, we're just shooting in the dark.

    Yeah I am.

Getting a .com.au domain is cool, as you need to be a registered business to do so. That means there are not many taken.

I want something different, and "fresh" or new.

I know it may sound weird, but I need to make a brand which will have brand loyalty attached.

The reason? many of my clients have used other people before, and I call up, they just switch to me like that. So i need to develop loyalty with the customer. I will do this with emails etc (newslettters and such) but also need a brand

Branding doesn't come from a name.

A brand is name, term, symbol or design, or combination of these to identify the good or service of one seller to differentiate them from the competitors.

    What do you mean?

I understand the definition of "brand."

You said, "I need to make a brand which will have brand loyalty attached."

When I responded, "Branding doesn't come from a name," I referred to the fact that a "brand" has nothing to do with customers' loyalty to the brand.

Sure, you want a brand that customers will be loyal to, but the name that you choose for your company will have no effect on brand loyalty. Brand loyalty doesn't come from a name, as you seem to suggest, but rather from the product that your company produces.

You made the comment, "[M]any of my clients have used other people before, and I call up, they just switch to me like that. So [I] need to develop loyalty with the customer."

Your name has nothing to do with the brand loyalty that you seek. These clients did not switch to you because you had a better name, but because the other people that they went to for the product before did not provide them a product that created brand loyalty.

Brand loyalty is a result of the value that you provide in your product.

And before you even ask the question that I'm sure you, or at least someone else, will ask, by "product," I don't mean the tangible good or the service that you sell to the customer. The product is the total package of value that your clients receive from you - including the good or service, customer service, company image, etc.

These, not your name, are what create brand loyalty.

Aside from the fact that he doesn't like names like this that will indicate to his customers easily the service that he provides, he probably seeks something that has an available domain for the name.

However, I was thinking along the same lines.

The fact that both of us were thinking along the same lines should lead Crackah to conclude that he should reconsider dismissing such ideas. Obviously, these names would be great, as customers would quickly and easily understand what the business does just from the name.

On the other hand, RuRy, for example, does not lead customers to a natural conclusion of the product provided, is hard to pronounce, and actually sounds like something my dog would say if she could talk.

Oh, yes I certainly know that.

I think what I meant to say was I want a name, which I guess will be different.

What I said was stupid, I certainly know that building brand loyalty is my doing,

When I was younger, my dad told me, "If you tell a joke and you have to explain it, you probably shouldn't tell that joke again." Now, he was explaining why he preferred David Letterman to Jay Leno, since Leno explained every one of his punchlines. However, I have found this advice to be very helpful in selecting business names as well.

Regardless of a need to be different or edgy, you want your customers to spend their time finding out more about your product, not trying to figure out your name.

You can still be different or edgy, but in business you HAVE to think like your customer.

This is my biggest criticism of entrepreneurs on this site - they fail to think like their customer. At the end of the day, the customer's perceptions and opinions, not the entrepreneur's, are what matter.
