    Name?

I posted a couple days ago about an idea I had for a startup. I'd like to start a small non-proft media company (ad agency, pr, event planning, consulting etc.) for socially conscious businesses and groups only. After going through many, many name ideas, I finally settled on one that I think I like, but want to get some outside opinions. The name is Creatopia Media, and the tag line would be something like "Innovative promotional solutions for the socially conscious". I like this concept because it combines what I feel my biggest strength is (creativity) with the aim of that creativity in the business I intend to start, which will be to promote a better world ( a world closer to a Utopia ) through helping socially conscious businesses and groups to gain exposure. I'm only worried that it may be overdone. I remember a juice drink called Fruitopia, and know this play on words has been used before. Any thoughts? I'm still open to other suggestions as well! Thanks for your help

    it's a cool name.

    i just registered a business name -

    ENVESTACOR

cause my last name is evans - and it's an anagram
it will be an investment company
    and, it's a corporation

as long as you are happy with the name and that you believe it ties in with your company goals, services, themes - then GREAT!!!

i like your slogan, but maybe not as long - needs more impact or reduction of words???

maybe something along the lines of

    Creatopia Media
    innovation - evoltuion - coaction

    heheh,

    i'm trying............. : )

Love the name, really catchy, and as quoted above by Drew, Make it shorter, snappier and catchier.

otherwise you're on the right track

The name sounds good. I don't like the slogan though. I liked Drew Evans' slogan better.

I'm also really confused as to why this is going to be a non-profit business. It sounds to me like you should be doing this for profit, then if you choose to use those profits to establish/fund a non-profit dedicated to saving the would through green efforts, that'd be your call.

Just my thoughts. Oh, and I like Evan's slogan better too...it is easier on the brain.

thanks everyone for the suggestions! I think I misstated the "non-profit" idea. I'd like to work for a profit eventually, but will serve non-profit and other socially conscience businesses/groups. I'm going to start out offering my services for free or for a very minimal cost until I build up a portfolio. I'm a college student with almost no experience and can't see many companies paying me to take on their accounts before I get some. But as I said, eventually I'll work for profit, but focus my work on the non-profit sector. Hope this makes sense. I'll keep thinking about the tag line. I agree that something shorter is a better idea.

I like where you are going with this but like other people said, I would try to condense the slogan a bit.

My opinion is you want to start to aim to make a profit from day one as you quote dont have a great amount of experience but business is business so even a very small profit is sound business sense but starting something with the notion of it being free is crazy.

I'd love to start with profit in mind, but like I said, I'm not sure anyone would hire me. I'm a college student with a little education but no degree yet, and I'm totally new to the media business. Most ad agencies / PR firms have at least some sort of a portfolio, do they not? I guess I'm considering my first couple clients a sort of unpaid internship experience that will enable me to be able to charge future clients. And since I care about the work I'm doing, I won't feel like I'm working for nothing. But if anyone has any suggestions on how I may attract clients with no real-world experience and no portfolio, I'd love to hear them, as this is my eventual goal! I'm still open to going either way as long as I know that its possible to attract clients right from the start.
