Thumbs up My newest venture...

Hi all, I started a non-profit organization in an effort to strike back at the media for recent reportings that American citizens are "scared" to go to war. I uploaded a template for now, but the new design, forums, and membership subscription will be up Wednesday or Thursday. Please tell me what you think about the idea.

What does a forum about entrepreneurs have to do with your love for a country? I guess this belongs in either The Lounge or a messageboard about Americans?

I am sorry. I don't equate a not-for-profit organization with the word "business," but alright. My understanding of the word "business" is completely different.

Hey Sonnny, I posted it here because I wanted feedback from the forum. I am a member here and have been for sometime, I just wanted to get an opinion on the idea. As for the non-profit organization...it is a business just liek mxer said. It has a Board of Directors, it raises income, etc. Granted the idea however is to pass on the raised income to people or organizations whom need it.

So again, the idea of posting here was just to recieve feedback on the idea...and it has to do with entrepreneurs because the main theme is American Citizens who are not military personnel but will support America if need be.

I appreciate the clarification. Makes sense.

I am really not into nationalism although I live in the USA, so I won't be of much use. Good luck, though.

well I'm a proud Canadian and I don't support the war, so I'll keep my mouth shut in this thread.

Haha, sounds like you are not going to get much support for the war in this forum, but I have had experience with Non-profit entrepreneurship and thought that you would be interested.

First off... its the most difficult, time consumming and expensive form of business to start. I haven't officially started my non-profit just yet because it is too expensive for me to do at this time.

There is a lot of paperwork involved, also, if you want individuals to make contributions, you will need to obtain 501(c)3 status from the IRS (REALLY long process.) That will essentially make you a tax exempt organization.

Haha, I guess that I am just giving you a friendly warning to make sure that you read up on the subject. I found out early enough that it was best for me to wait a little while to incorporate thinkentre.org!

Yeah, I know about the 501(c)3 and Im not worried. Im just giving people like myself a voice. I have a PR agent sending out our press releases to The Today Show, USA Today, Washington Post, LA Times, etc. etc. In order to get us the publicity we need.

But thanks for the advice.

Her name is Diane and she works in an office next to my OC Internet Advertising office. She has been in the biz for 20+ years.

love it

Hey, I love your website and I love the idea. Me and my friends share your same values. Most of us here in the south do. People are more proud of our country down here. Keep up the good work. My suggestion to you is to have your PR lady to send releases to news organizations located below the Mason-Dixon line. Also try sending it to CMT (country music television), GMC (great american country) or national country radio shows like Chad and Dave in the morning. One more suggestion, With the recent news about Tillman, try searching the Pheonix area for even calling the Cardinals. Good Luck.
