My new business

I am in the process of starting a company that sells womens feminine hygene products and have a lot of general business questions. I have previously had a service oriented business and this new product based business is foriegn to me. So here are some of the questions I have that I am hoping you can help me clear up.

1. What is a good way to go about dealing with distributors? Where should I start? Or if that is unavailable what about wholesalers? How do I find a good one? What is your advice?

You can find distributors on trade lead websites like Alibaba

You can easily connect with distributor at your own town.

How would you suggest connecting with a distributor in my town?
From my research so far with wholesalers on the internet their pricing seems to be at or around five cents below retail. How do I go about finding the good wholesalers will give me the competitive pricing?

I'm just curious, why starting a business that is foreign to you

You need to do so much work/research to know more about the product, the market and distribution
