    hey everyone

does anyone else share my mma/martial arts obsession?

how can i start a business in this field?

    care to brainstorm with me?..

here is what i got so far..

    -podcasting mma talk show
-start a mma clothing line (sponsor up and coming athletes)
    -sell mma gear online
    -host seminars
-open gym/fitness centre for athletes and bring in athletes to train rookies
    -promote events
-host small events e.g. jiu jitsu tournaments etc.

anyone else have any ideas..specifically lower budget..

I enjoy MMA a lot but I dont train. I have a good friend who runs MMA-Fighterdotcom. Its a lot of work for him, and he doesnt really make anything. But he gets press passes to the UFCs and interviews fighters.

I also know a guy who just started the first MMA school here in South Lake Tahoe. He seems to be doing ok, and I know he has classes for kids which make him the most money.

My advice would be to avoid a clothing line at all costs. High startup costs, and clothing lines fail all the time. The market is too saturated. I would do a number of things with MMA. Setup a gym/school and do the usual classes thing, certain months hold seminars, events, etc, and have your own MMA website selling the gear. If you had nothing to start a gym with, the MMA ecommerce site would be your best starting point.

I havent trained for a long time, but I know several individuals that run studios. Unless you own a chain of McDojos dont plan on getting rich from it.

For MMA I would say a cage but for others like boxing or pro wrestling in a ring. I have got an idea for promoting a new type of MMA fights which if possiable I think it could work well.

That's a good idea right there...

I think you need to do a cost analysis for each of your ideas. Organize them in a manner that shows what you can afford to do. This will give you a good starting point for which ideas you can spend more time on. I was in to all this in my younger days... not I'm just a beat up old man... i yi yi

    Hello

I am also trying to start a mma brand. I think that there is a lot of room for growth in this industry. I saw some of your ideas and to be honest we have very similar ones. Have you came up with a name?

Tournoments I use to love them, but only a few went on in my area like once a year but when they did there was always 500+ contenders and i remember a enrty charge of like £17 so thats £8500 revenue per event.

    Turn Key MMA

Hello all, a client of ours is selling their MMA Promotion Company. This is a turn key opportunity for anyone looking to get into the fight game. They have held 7 fights in the South Eastern United States. The Promotion comes with all the equipment you would need. 32 Foot Elevated Cage, sub floor, mat, bumper pads, legal contracts, fighter contracts, venue contracts (thousands of dollars in legal work) website with all content, championship belts, t-shirts, company name, facebook, myspace, all hd video footage form all fights, still photos, t-shirts, t-shirt cannon, promotional material....ect. They have held promoters license in five states and have a great industry reputation.

If you are looking to jump into the fastest grown sport this is a perfect opportunity. You would pay more just buying the equipment you get than they are asking for the entire company. Leave message if you want further detail.. serious inquiry only please.

Im a long-time YE member and have recently seen my information technology based company take off. I am not working full time for myself. Due to the recent success of my company Vaiz Enterprises my business partner and I decided to put a halt on our MMA oriented fight gear line Superior MMA. We have a full oinitial product line with about 5 designs accros tshirts, long sleeve, hoodies, zipups, etc. We also have a website developed at Superior Apparel and the domain sprmma.com

We are currently looking to sell the brand and all extras(site, designs, domain, etc) since we are focusing on our current companies expansion and do not have the time to put into spr. This is a great product line, a great brand, and a great opportunity in a expanding industry. PM ME if you would like more information. Right now we are only asking $5000.00

Podcasting, MMA news and clothing lines are saturated and you will probably never make much money with those paths but you never know.

I am a fighter, I have my own school and am running a grappling tournament this month.

Schools are a great way to make money, it just takes time. The best advice I can give you is to start of small.

The only way to make money in MMA is with a school, by fighting or holding tournaments.

BTW I'm in Long Island, NY, my place is small but its getting there. It will be a year in July.
