My Latest Invention

My latest invention, a pen that never runs out of ink.

How does it work you say?

Instead of using ink, the pen has a heated tip.

When the pen is run across a white sheet of paper it lightly chars it black, hence giving it the appearance of ink.

It's very safe and it only writes when pressure is applied to the point.

Note: The pen can be recharged; it has ni-cad lithium battery.

What do you think of the idea?
Too dangerous?

I got the idea from an old toy I used to play with.
It was one of those wood burning kits.
And being that paper is made from wood fibre, why not?

I dont think that would work. And running out of ink isnt a big problem. Pens are cheap and expensive pens can be refilled.

As a novelty item, your pen would sell. As a day to day pen, I don't think it would.

I think it's an interesting idea, if it could be as convenient as a regular pen, and comparatively priced, I would buy it.

As a novelty item I also think it would sell. Given thatn, the best time to get it out there would probably be for the Christmas market.

Sounds interesting...

Although I think at this point pen's are so inexpensive that it would be more of a novelty item as some have mentioned.

Also depending on how 'hot' the tip gets, some might not like it. Personally I hold a pen when I write towards the tip if it got too hot i'd rather use a regular ball-point pen.

Good luck

sounds pretty interesting. but how would you keep it from burning the paper if hte user holds the pen in one spot for too long?

definitely a novelty item. But I I can see it working in some specialty industries for marking items in lieu of a sharpie, although those are cheap too.

maybe artists would like it if it gives off a charcoal effect? I know some charcoal pencials are pretty expensive.

What about some kind of scantron-like application? Maybe the charred paper can be recognized or analyzed in some way...

That might be more usefull and something people/companies/organizations would pay more for

i think the best application this would have would be to replace a charcoal pencil.
the pen would not burn through the piece of paper, it would monitor temperature.
i.e. smart pen
