My idea. Sarching for people how know about just in time in the fashion manufacturing procees

Hi there, I am new in this forum.

I have a great idea about a new internet based fashion company, but I have one problem in the manufacturing procees.

All the manufacturing suppliers are offering to me a minimun ammount of handags to start the production ( like 300 or 500 handbags), but the problem is that my company is to sell one to one, and each handbag is customized itself...

I am trying to look for a supplier that is able to manufacture in their machines 300 handbags with differents patents per day.

Please any advice? Do you know if is there any manufacturing supplier that is working in this way?? or at the moment these kind machines are not invented yet?

    Thanks a lot.

By the way I add my blog address in my sing, just in case you want to visit it, its a new blog... at the momeent I only have the social entreprenneur label but shrtly I will add differents ideas and business plan in order to look for entrepreneur people like me and share ideas.

    Regards dear readers and friends.

Smaller runs = Higher costs. Plain and simple. No getting around it.

You will be hard pressed to find a manufacturer who will be able to reset a press for individual item runs. You may want to look at Alibaba.com to see if you can find a Chinese manufacturer. It sounds like you need someone to make this by hand in order to do such small orders. Of course this means higher per units costs.

Thanks a lot to both Jonathan and roger.

I suppose it will be difficult becouse of you tell "less units, higher prices" but the thing is, If you see how the business model has been evolutioning, you will see that the customer every year that goes he want to be part of the product creation.

In fashion desing it means that they will create their own cloth in a future not so faraway. I think these type of machines will appear later or sooner... I mean, nike offer to its customer the chance to design their own sport-shoes with a software...

The future= each customer will be a designer using a easy free software on the web

And for that the new manufacture machines and manufacture companies will have to give to us the possibility to... or re-build the business model.

The thing is this software should be able to conect with the machines to allow each customer to be his/her own designer

If I were you I would find someone who makes handmade bags, provide different materials and so forth then offer them online. Let a buyer build the bag on your site then forward it to the person who is handmaking them with the materials you provided, if you sell the bag for 100 give the maker a percent and you keep a percent, then as it grows get another person to hand make them and so on until you find what you are looking for.

I have a design studio and we do a lot with apparel development and I prob have someone that could make them for you.

Thanks both roger "again" :-) and MASapparel.

The business plan is a bit complex but its so creative and different from you can find now, please roger and MASapparel have a look what I am gonna tell u now, I think its interesting at least :-)

MASapparel The idea you told me is a good idea.

I considered in the business plan something like this but in another way, have a look I will tell you in the following lines.

You can observe that the successful business in the future will be the ones that allow a fluid relationship between customer and customer, not company-customer, I mean (customer-customer) like ebay, youtube... , customers doesn´t wanna talk anymore with companies only trust in another customers...

I will tell you a bit more , and this is one of the strong and creative points of the company I would like to run: in the homesite of this company, each customer will have a "virtual wardrobe" (in a 3D environment, can u imagin it?) because the customer can design for example 3 bags today but he doesn´t wanna buy till next week so she will keep them into her wardrobe, and....
every customer will be able to enter and have a look in others customer´s wardrobes (like a network, but in handbags...) and buy bags that other girls have made... Example: My sister design a bag and keep it in her wardrobe and other girl from another country will be able to buy it.

MASapparel in that point I thought about a %( no more that 10 per each) will go **to the customer that created the handbag*** so the customers(girls) can feel that they are designers, can u imagin that? and of course it will do the business growing a lot.

This is what I told u in the lines above: Fluid relationship between customer and customer, as Thomas friedman would say " the world is being flattened" doesn´t mind where your customer, partners and supplier are... if you can connect them one with each other. What do you think both about that Roger and MASapparel.

I actually think if you can figure out a way to produce the bags then you may be on to something strong.

When I was talking about percents I was talking about paying the person working for you that actually makes the bags.

I like the idea but it may be hard to pull off without some good money behind it. It is bascilly the same thing as cafepress.com but with bags.

If you would like shoot me an email and I will try and help you out, I have a lot of contacts in the fashion industry.
