    www.freebjjinstuctionals.com

I am not experienced in making websites and just signed up with hostgator yesterday.

After messing around I was able to whip up a quick website for practice. It is a website which will organize all of the free brazilian jiu jitsu instructionals I can find on the net as well as be a place people can find out about and discuss tournaments ect.

How does the site look so far? Are there any suggestions on how I can improve it? Im currently using site studio which seems like a good easy to use program. I was completely lost when I tried soho.

Also I signed up for google adsense...was this a bad idea as I dont have traffic yet....hopefully im approved.

    Any advice appreciated.

    The site is www.freebjjinstructionals.com

    Thanks!

Its very generic and could use alot of work. You could also add more text explaining what your website does exactly.

Just keep refining your site based on what you want to "sell" as you learn about internet marketing. That's all any of us do from me all the way up to Google and Yahoo.

Thanks for the responses. I have updated the website. One problem I am having is Getting text up in the template area. I was going to put my website name in big letters up there. Is this possible with site studio?

Im not really planning on selling anything with this..just getting experience building. I will add some adsense and a banner for advertising and will advertise the site to see what kind of traffic I can generate.

If I get good traffic I might offer dropshipped martial arts uniforms, mma gear ect or even resell long instructionasl clips thast go into more detail than the short clips on the site. At this point its all just an experiment.

Ok I have updated yet again.

I now have 2 featured videos on the main page. The purple belt test one is pretty cool check it out.

    Couple questions

    1) Is it possible to get an embedded video to autoplay when someone goes to the site?

    2) Is it possible to put text in the upper area of the template (ie. next to the guy doing the gogoplata)?

    Any comments and advice welcome.

this is one of my "competitors" SubFighter .c om

There is also a site called tapskillz. Both sites require the people to sign up to see most videos. Subfighter seems to lack in their instructionals. Tapskillz seems to lack in design but has a good variety. I of course will include the best from both and other sites and youtube. All the best videos will be on my site...embedded for ease of use and I wont require anyone to sign up to see them.

I was also thinking of having a forum and also allowing people to blog for free on my site.

I was thinking of having sections of the blog area for each belt level...when ever someone gets promoted their blog gets bumped to the higher belt category ect.

    Good idea?

Hits is not a real metric. Hit can be created by just refreshing your browser. every time you refresh your browser counts as 1 hit.

You want to use page views, visitors per day, and unique visitors per day.

The featured video is a great idea but if you want quality and control use your player. I am working on my site and waiting for the video to arrive but take a pick. SEO Consultant, Search Engine Optimization - Connecticut

Im not sure how to use my own player. Is there an easy way to do this?

Site studio ony seems to allow you to add imaghes not video. I put all my videos up by using embed codes which was nice and easy but I have lots of great videos on my comp that would complete my site.

Im considering soon writing an article on Digg about Jiu Jitsu. It has been becoming very popular in recent years with the recent MMA craze. It is one of if not the most effective martial art for 1 on 1 combat as the early ufcs with Royce Gracie showed as he destroyed trained oppenents with over 50 pounds on him.

I do need to get a new template though I think...that was the best built in one and I cant figure out how to import. Should I wait until I have a better template to add the google adsense?

The player will work as just a embed code from Youtube.

what do you mean by "player". Realplayer? Mediaplayer? Im not sure how to do this yet...

I have submited my url to google..hopefully it gets added to the index.

    To Do list

    1) Finish submitting most videos and organizing them (timeline..by next wendsday)

    2) Have the forum and blog section ready to use (2 weeks max)

3)Get a better template (as soon asI can figure out how to import lol)

    4) Add google adsense ads (asap)

    5) Advertise on multiple websites such as DIGG, Sherdog, Bullshido ect ect. (whenever I feel comfortable with the look and content of my site.)

    1) Don't ever submit your stuff to search engines. Link your content from different sources is faster than submission.

    3) Switch to FTP.
