My first business...

I started a babysitter database, which is pretty much a web page with 20 different babysitters whom differ in schedule and age. The web page contains a picture of a babysitter and a description. Parents who go on my site will be able to choose whomever they want to employ. Once they have chosen, they "set a date" with their chosen babysitter on a message board. I do all the advertising for my web page (where I live and with my connections, it will be a piece of cake).

I receive 1-2$ for every hour my employees baby-sit. I will also make strict contracts with my employees. If they initially use my website to find a babysitter, any other time that babysitter works for them, they must still pay me 1-2$ per hour.

I will start this business soon, I hope it goes well.

Btw, I need a catchy name for my business, any ideas?

This is an interesting concept and could work. Like mentioned, my question would be would you pick your babysitter off the internet? Would the sitters be local kids that already babysit and have references from people they have previously sat for? Babysitting is a market where word of mouth is really the best and only advertising. If you provide a good service to one family, then the mother will tell their friends and eventually the sitter could have a lot of contacts. How are you going to bring this to the web? Perhaps a rating system where people who have used a sitter on your site can leave a public and uneditted review of the service and everything.

I do like the idea of being able to go to a website and set up a babysitter on short notice while at work or if you wanna take your wife out for dinner the next night and want to find a sitter.

I am still curious if people would book a sitter online though. Again, very interesting idea. Have you already launched this website or are you still in the process of putting it together?

Where are you finding your babysitters?

This is not a problem with my business. I live in a very diverse city which happens to have a lot of Israelies/Jews in it (I am Israeli btw). The Israelie/Jewish community is very strong and is almost like a family. I lived in this city for most of my life and I feel like I know most of the israelies here simply because it is a tight community. The babysitters I am offering are almost all Jewish or Israeli. So the problem you came up with is nothing for me to be worried about.

Select-A-Sitter sounds good, but if I have a gaint poster that says "select-A-sitter" people might not know it is for babysitting.

That sounds like I great idea, if you don't mind I might just use it .

I finished a 1st draft of my website, but I still need to take pictures of my employees and post them on the site.

I think I answered your other questions in my previous post.

hey, nobody believed that people would buy other peoples junk online. Look at eBay. They use a good credit system. I think people would pick a baby sitter online.

Well you have to consider I started it yesterday and at the same time used Frontpage for my first time ever.

I think the plain look makes it look more professional, and easier to understand. My target customers are bad in english and they need an easy website to work with.
