My family is in bad financial shape. So am I + Recession = ???

Hi, I want to see if all/any of you can help me get on the road to financial prosperity.

I know we are in a recession and times are tough. Both my parents are barely surviving as my mother just had to dump her 30 years of savings to pay our credit card bills.

I want to help in any way I can but don't want to have to go through the grueling hell of getting a crazy 9-5 minimum wage job.

I have college education and am well skilled with computers, but sadly, neither of those are big assets in today's world since Geek Squad has taken over and there are so many college educated job applicants.

Please make the best suggestion you can make on how I can start making money either from the computer(No scam, no referral, or commission based bullshit) or at a job that actually has some credibility other than a pizza joint.

I deserve Much better than working a pizza joint(Hope that doesn't offend anyone here)

    Thank you

Where are you located? Are you willing to relocate if necessary? What exactly is your degree and do you have any experience in that area?

Not offended, but curious to know why you think you deserve to have more than anyone else? Because you went to college? Because you know something about computers? So? Earn it, don't expect it.

And I don't agree with your claim that you can't get a job in computers today because of Geek Squad. Not only do they not control their own market, but they are only a tiny fraction of the overall technology industry. And I actually know someone who just Friday got a great paying job doing PPC campaign management and she had zero computer experience. She just put herself out there and impressed the people doing the hiring with her enthusiasm and willingness to learn. She deserved the job because she went for it and got it.

    1. Pay off your credit cards as soon as possible and then cut them up. Borrow money from financially well off friends if you need to. Whatever you do, do not file bankruptcy. Even if you have to - DON'T! It will damage your credit score for over 20 years on end and will not give you the life you want. Do not buy another one no matter how good it sounds until you know truly that you can't financially take the expenses. If you don't have the cash for it, you don't need it. I know it sounds hard, but stick to it and get over the negatives that are holding you back.

    2. Get a better mindset. Don't focus on all of the negative crap in the world, just the good stuff. Stuff that makes you, yourself, feel good. Try to do your best in college and not to think of your current financial standing often.

    3. Purchase the DVD (or book, I prefer DVD) The Secret. Watch it over and over until you breathe, eat, sleep on, and live the Secret. Think about you being a billionaire, having so much money that you have built your house on it. Picture yourself carelessly tossing money into the burning fire for firewood. Heck, THINK GREEN AND THINK BIG.

I hope this advice helps you in some way, shape, or form. Please let me know how all of it works out for you.

Join the military... with a degree you can become an officer and they are much less likely to die in combat then us enlisted folk (prior-service). You'll start in the low to mid 40K's and be in the $50K's by your second year.

Plus maybe the discipline will get you to stop all your damn whining. The world is not a nice place.

Stop whining. Get out there and do something. Don't expect anything to be handed to you and don't expect anything to be easy.

100% agreed with CapForge and RLorenen - Monitor your spending, don't use the plastic when you can't back it with the cash, put together a presentable resume, have some CONFIDENCE in yourself to sell your computer skills, and start with baby steps. People don't hit rock bottom and then make it all back 1000 fold because they run into a "good idea". Even if we were able to impart a fail safe business venture, it takes capital and collateral to get the outside services or basic expenses you need to operate.

This person speaks the truth, start thinking in a more positive manner rather than the pessimistic one to begin with. Myspace was the number 1 social site but that still didn't stop someone from creating their own (aka Facebook).

Are you assuming? or do you know this from experience?

I don't like when people assume when they don't know anything about the subject, or don't have any extensive experience in the pariticular field.

So next time when you talk please make sure you know what your talking about.

Read the book "Total Money Make Over" by Dave Ramsey it is a best seller. It is a simple no nonsense book on how to take a meager income and become debt free and financially free.

Other than that, Real estate, you need very little money to succeed I should pull in about 40-80,000 dollars the next few months with only 10-20 dollars out of pocket and only a few hours per deal.

I don't know where you're living but real estate is quite possibly the worst place to invest money right now.

If you have money, it would be best to grab as much real estate as possible. I think we have bottomed out.
