    My Business for Sale...

So, I figure its a long short...but still worth a try. I put my store up for sale on ebay... Alternative Retail Store- Clothing & Accessories PROFIT - eBay (item 320355939009 end time Apr-11-09 10:25:10 PDT)
Check it out if you get the chance. I'm pretty sure none of you have the funds or the interest to own and operate this store. But has anyone else done this before? List your business on Ebay? How'd it go for ya?

Nice starting price. What's your yearly income for your business, if you don't mind my asking?

Last year was $68,000....so not much unfortunately. But the over head is very low. This store could do wonders if I had the $$$ to invest into it...but unfortunately, everything I had went into starting it..and there wasn't much left for maintaining it. It still does ok on its own, it currently floats itself (pays its own bills). Whoever buys it needs to be ok with not making much profit right away, or have $$ to put into it to get additional stock, which in turn will produce additional profit.

Thanks for the information. I'll probably have to turn you down on this, but best wishes on selling your store!

TBH, I am 99% sure it will not sell. But its worth a shot. I love running it, but I'm at a place where I wouldn't mind if it did sell either.

Does that price include the lease hold? And how long is left on the lease?

The lease is up in Aug 09. What we would do it end our current lease early (we have a great leasing agent w/Simon), and the new owner would renew under his/her own name for a year lease with Simon, if they chose to keep the store in the current location. Current rent is $1,000/month, and our leasing agent is awesome!

No, no new business venture. The economy sucks, and getting my family by on my husbands salary alone is getting harder and harder. We are able to struggle thought it, and get by...for now. But, it's one of those things I'm on the fence about..to keep running it or not...depends on the day. So listing it was just one of those "well, we'll see what happens, and either way it turns out will be ok". Does that make sense? Maybe you have to be there to understand it...

What about closing down the shop and having it purely online? You already have a customer base, so, although the income will probably be less it will take a lot less time and because you do not have about $12000 a year to pay in rent you could maybe provide $6000 of this for discounts?
Just start advertising in your shop that you will be transforming it to a purely online site. You are local, so, you will be able to deliver the products quite cheaply. This also means that you will be able to expand the business to a greater surrounding area, which will boost profits. You should have a lot more free time aswell.
On your site you should include a "sizes" tab. Like the american eagle site, you can see what measurements each size is. Your sizes may vary slightly but give an estimate or say that it is between two figures etc. This will make buying online alot easier

What do you think of the idea?

Go to an asset lender and get a $35,000 loan against your inventory and give 49% of the store away to someone that wants to take it over free (as well as the debt) then retire your shares and their 49 becomes 100%. Free store, instant finance, no owner carry, 100% purchase price. There are a thousand ways to get everyone what they want. The problem is that people never make a DECISION. Decide what you want then go get it. You will go no where til the decision is made. Good Luck Tho.
