    Music Biz Ideas

So I have a friend who is very gifted in creating music. He creates music on his computer and keyboard.

The majority of his music is actually weird music that sounds like it could be in a movie or something.

However, he can make all different types of music and has great talent.

What businesses could be launched with music talent such as this?

I told him I would fund everything and run everything as long as he does the music.

    Thanks for any suggestions

A lot of movies buy their sounds from libraries, such as prosoundeffects.com.

Make a demo cd, send it to music record companies, could be a good money maker, but also track can get stolen and used.

Well I mean, what about services.

Like music creation for Websites or something like that. However, web development companies also offer the music side of things. So I don't know just trying to find something to make some money of his talents.

    He agrees.

    Thanks for the replies..

    Keep them coming.

What about looking into a niche of creating music specifically for websites. Create music, include whatever is needed to add it to a website, and sell them for a small fee. You can do research to provide studies that certain music entices listeners to buy more, or puts listeners in a certain mood, in order to support your sales. I think there could be a market for it, but it will depend on marketing.

    Just brainstorming a bit.

I like that idea- music for the web. You can even have him make music specifically for YouTube movies and MySpace pages. I bet the MySpace nuts would "Go Nuts" for a service tailored to them!

Exactly. Naysayers will comment that someone can easily just throw a little Kanye up for free, but I think if you brand it right and seek opportunities with small- to mid-size companies especially, there might be some potential.

Contact me if you would like some consultation help with this idea.

I actually was thinking maybe that's the way to go with it.

Even outsource to web design companies and for every sale they make with custom music, pay them a commission.

Yeah I would like to speak with you Jonathan do you use MSN or AIM?

Haha, taking my idea, and peddling it to the mark... Are going to have to start competing Jonathan?

Lol, anyways, I think that a service for MySpace, Facebook, and the other social networking site would work out rather well. The key is to make sure that none of his music can be linked with copyrighted material. This is where many musicians get in trouble.

You should also consider ringtones! There's alot money still to make in this market. If the music your friend makes appeals to certain niche market that would be great. Start a website that sells ringtones directly to thier phone or a toll free phone number they could call. You may want to do both it will definitely add diversification to your business model. Trust me if the music is catchy people will buy especially the younger generation! Hope that helps...
