That all depends on something called sector rotation.

For average entrepreneurs I think the biggest markets are the ones you have the most experience in because you have the most knowledge of what the market needs and what profitable niches exist. Often, entrepreneurial failures are simply a result of a "guess" as to what customers in a market really need.

I agree with you gregg. Most people who become very successful in their businesses are in their element. They have educated themselves well enough in the industries that they are in and know it well even in their sleep.

Though entrepreneurs are risk takers they are calculated and not a mere glance at a crystal ball. Ideas are formed when people have done a thorough observation of supply and demand.

Then again, it is rather important to have an overall picture of the economy. It pays to know what industries are doing well, consumer trends, and macroeconomic factors since they will most certainly influence any business you choose to pursue.

In response to your original question, I'd like to add online advertising as one of the most profitable, fastest growing markets out there. I also believe that online gaming (MMOrpgs and the like) has a lot of room to grow, particularly in Asia.

I think that the Energy industry has alot of room for innovation and better inventions.

I have thought about alot of ways to profit from this, but until Congress lets carbon take over, it will be hard.
