    Mobile App Company?

I have been looking to get into the Mobile application development game. I have not a single lick of knowledge of how to build apps or anything of the sort. Before I begin to dive too deep into the information, I would like some advice from people who are currently in this industry or have been in it before.

My biggest concern is, is it worth it? Even with a niche app(s) and a solid business plan, is it even feasible to make a profit doing this?

Also, any good sites that list stats of failed application companies and their stories would be great too

    Also Also,
What are some good resources to look at for how to make mobile apps, mainly in the Android Market?

Depends what your development cost is. I'm trying to get to this market because I know I could do much better than others but lack of computer.
Any help will be appreciated Do we need decent programmers again? | Invested.in - Raise Money, Reach Goals, Build Community! so I could win App Planet competition. Saw my competition there and I could do some ten times better.

Mobile Web does not make much money because it's difficult to market it. You need to pay for the visitors $2-$3 range which means that you have very difficult to find a viable business. Those days when you may get to mobile operator portal (2005) are now over.

I have my SVG animations (wonderries.mobi) and some mobile websites having so low traffic there as Google and other search engines doesn't separate WAP sites and normal Internet sites, it just converts Internet websites to mobile friendly format.

iPhone makes most of money but it needs a MacBook and iPhone. Also it's very difficult to get your app accepted if your idea isn't much oversome.

Android i will be out of question for me. I do not like those guys there, they still believe free open source so how we could make any money out from it?

Nokia would have been my next choice. I know the Nokia guys and they have still 37% market share...
and there is also Samsung Wave which is extremly nice environment but not much market there.

Windows Mobile 7 is also out of question for me. They do not have any market share and dealing with Microsoft who invented that customers should pay for bug fixes rather than decent product isn't much where I belived.

Maybe I have more knowledge because I have been following mobile sector since 2004 and have attended on most of the mobile app events, like App Planet, WIP JAM, etc.
At least I could beat those programmers whose apps are currently doing millions of downloads and winning awards with next level. I just need a computer and phone to do it. If I would have had thsoe since September when I wrote one of my app specs down, I would have been a winner in Barcelona GSM World on february, 2011 with it.
