Every company is supposed and must have a mission statement. The mission statement is the heart of your business operations.

Our mission statement

Here is our mission statement, and do let me know if you understand the meaning of these strings of words;

"At Gatepedia, our mission and values are to synergistically engineer unique infrastructures and efficiently coordinate diverse deliverables to exceed our customers' expectations."

But what does that mean? You tell me...!

As a 62 year young serial entrepreneur let me give you some advice: don't use to much lingo that people can't grasp.

Your mission statement should be free of big words like you use.

National Charity Services: Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide logistical and managerial support to non-profits in order to help them to achieve maximum profitability from all fund raising efforts.

I like Google's motto: "Do no evil". three words only, cool, uhmm, i wonder who they direct that to... Microsoft.

And here's Microsoft mission statement: "Our mission and values are to help people and businesses throughout the world realize their full potential."

What kind of buzz are you trying to send with so many difficult words? I'm sure you understand what it says, but if your target market doesn't think exactly like you, I'd tone down the lingo a bit. There's no need for your customers to have to think about what your mission statement means. It should be something they can read once, understand and move on.

Is the mission statement for customers? Or for employees?

My opinion is that it is for employees, and the quickly entrepreneurs realize this, the quickly they stop using big, beautiful words and start using effective, useful words.
