Medical Ideas?

Hello fellow Young Entrepreneurs,

I come to you all for ideas in the medical industry. For years I’ve had a passion for helping people and now I’m trying to focus that passion into creating a foundation or some type of business that can help the sick or needy.

I don’t have much prior experience in the medical field, besides coding and billing. I’ve dreamed of becoming a Doctor, however, I have a weak stomach when in the sight of blood or traumatizing injuries.

I’m currently working as an Electrical Engineer and would like to break away from this field and enter the field where my passion lies, which is providing help for the sick. I understand there are many liabilities in performing a service for the sick especially in the medical field, but I’m willing to take that risk.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

sure.......this is the golden age of medicine

over the next 25 years breakthroughs in biotech and medical devices are gonna cure the major diseases and transform the industry from "illness care" to proper "health care" with a whole range of products that actually improve quality of life rather than delay death.

now....what you are asking for is help in forming an investment thesis. to identify opportunities, we're gonna do 2 things: a) split the health care investment space into manageable categories (e.g. biotech, medical devices) and b) identify trends which you can catch by looking at what's being financed

what I want you to do:

1) google "healthcare vc" or "healthcare venture capital" and find reports that identify the major categories of healthcare related investment. please list all of these categories.
2) make a second list that combines this list with other industries - like property management and retirement care. then combine list 1 with list 2 to identify areas of crossover
3) go to http://www.pwcmoneytree.com. register on the site. find a list of health related startups that you'd most like to be the boss of (look under "industries")

This way you can start developing your investment thesis.....a list of broad areas in healthcare which you think are better opportunities than other areas of healthcare.

The second part is where you contact people with a similar investment thesis and ask them for advise.

Do this, and it's mathematically certain that you will end up with a great opportunity in health care.....provided you don't just wanna go work for Pfizer or something

again, rather than throwing around a whole bunch of ideas (i.e oh! sleep disorders! resmed's doing well, you should stick to that), the point here is to get jason to develop an investment thesis which matches the investment thesis of other entrepreneurs and investors

unless jason psychologically owns the idea (as a result of understanding his investment thesis), no action will follow...which kind of defeats us posting in this thread

What I am Seeking?

I had the top business in my category in Israel for 19 years.
I am seeking and individual or company to help me relocate the business to the USA and grow.

This number represent realistic numbers which represent capturing only 2-4% of the western US Nursing and Long care market. This market is growing by 3.5% only at the mobility products, which is about 10% of our product line.
