    Marketing with Fliers

I'm currently editing my book which is about how the motor sports industry can increase their value by implementing marketing and business strategies. I plan to sell the book in print and ebook form.

My marketing budget is extremely small. I plan on buying classified ads in a paper which will cost me about $75 every three weeks. I'm still thinking about this strategy.

One strategy that I am fond of is fliers. They're simple, they get your message across and are extremely inexpensive. There is a motorsports expo coming up in March that I'd like to pass these fliers out there. It's on a state fairgrounds. Can I pass these fliers out and put them on cars? Or do I need permission to do this? If this means anything, I'm a volunteer writer for the racing newspaper that is putting on this expo.

Also, a few other side questions of mine:

1.) Is it OK for the book to be taking pre-orders on the site that is on the fliers? Will customers get too impatient and not pre-order?

2.) In the flier, should I advertise both my racing news site that promotes my book and the book site or just the book site?

Identify who is your market, the end consumer or companies? Giving fliers to consumer may be a good choice in a expo.

I believe you have to ask permission for giving fliers in the expo.

Pre-order is a good idea. You can collect some money upfront first, and reduce your risk. However, the risk now is on the customer which you will need some convincing power to convince them to order.

It is not about impatient and not order, it is about not trusting and not order.

I think it is ok to promote your book and your site in the fliers.

I don't see how you can make money from the classifieds to be honest.

My target audience is race fans and the expo is 100% in purpose for race fans. My only confusion is that I would be putting them on cars in the parking lot which isn't neccessarily the expo. I'll look into this.

Thanks for the tip, but I already found an inexpensive printer that allows me to print as small amount of books as I want. I'm probably going to print 50-100 off the bat and see my success rate. I also don't mind doing packaging work after school if it means a larger profit. This also allows me to sell my books at a small price since I don't have to pay any royalty fees.
