Marketing how to?

Hi YE,

Can you guys please help out. I am currenlty in my 3rd year studing marketing and want to open up a small marketing agency - mailny to get experience, get into the game and make a bit for the pocket.

What I wanna do is open up and all round marketing/promotion company with my main focus being hiring student to do promotional work - ie student at clubs handing out flyers ,promoting in mall's street corners ect ,also get students to drive around billboards and stick stickers of company logo's on their cars for a fee.

How can I go about this ,where would I start - do I source clients first or get a database of students .........

As I said I would like to try this out on a small scale to start with.

Thanks

hooch, I'm gonna scorn myself for writing this because no one ever follows any free advice anyway, but here's what you should do:

1) conduct an extensive, questionnaire survey of the student population asking them about their attitudes towards casual work and why they think students make the best recruits for particular kinds of promo campaigns

2) compile the results in a survey and shop it around to recruitment agencies, and large employers who are frequently launching appropriate products

3) educate them about the benefits of a student workforce and accept letters of intent signaling their willingness to comit to a budget

4) use these letters as a security to go and recruit these students or what ever

personally (and I might be delusional), I don't have an overwhelming feeling that this venture should exist in the first place. It doesn't solve an identifiable problem in an way that hasn't been tried before.

your costs will be very high, you'll suffer from low scalability and I don't see any differentiation in a manner that supports a higher valuation

sometimes, and maybe not in this case, the better decision is to forgo starting a particular venture, and focus on an alternative

Thanks for the great advise Akula.

I understand what you are saying ,and think the survey would be the best place to start especially with all college's opening and starting there new year now (Im based In South Africa)

You say the cost will be very high - What would my cost be ,I dont see any huge expenses.
I worked in promotions from high school day's - for teh student ,its an excellent side income for fun work on weekends.
For the client ,they know they will be using educated - smart looking people to promote their product when needed.

Thanks
