I'm wondering if there is a website where you can see how the companies in specific industries are performing based on their market share. If not is there a gap in the Market for this?

There are a few sites that provide industry info like performance and Market Share. Take a look at Hoovers and Mintel.

Ok refining the idea slightly, would there be a gap in the Market for showing investors the most profitable companies, these would not be the well known, obvious ones but smaller ones from around the world which could prove to be profitable.

I had this idea from football where the worlds best players are very expensive so clubs are forced to look to cheaper unheard of players to develop. Would there be a gap in the Market in business with this concept?

Theres a gap for anything if you market it right CB. Thing is, your unique draw would be to post profitability? lol, so you would have speculations on how their stock will fly?
